📢 REAL Christmas Works Update🎄 REAL Alliance have been working over the length of the route this Christmas, completing critical works in areas that have challenging access. We have worked closely with other contractors and stakeholders on the route to ensure we could secure the access to complete key works in these areas. During the blockades we have had over 6000 people hours worked by our teams and suppliers with thousands more in the planning, working together with ECML Route and ECRO. OLE teams have worked at Alexandra’s Palace to complete overboom cabling works, this was one of the final pieces of work that was dependant on key access and integration with other parties. This was key for the traction return and handback of the site.   Our Civils teams completed works on a 5 track UTX (Under Track Crossing) outside Bretton feeder station for future commissioning works at a new site in 2024. The UTX was to hold HV, LV and telecom cables to divert power to our new site, the UTX was a 9 duct installation at over 2m deep across all tracks. Further works in 2024 will see this used to energise the new feeder station at this site.   OLE, Testing and SCADA teams have worked together at Tallington removing 4 existing neutral sections and updating the route operations with support from our design teams and ECRO. These are historical works that we have had to delay in the past due to route restrictions. 🚦 Our £4bn, 10-year signalling plan will change the face of Britain’s railway, with modern equipment bringing greater reliability across the country through traditional signalling and digital control. Six companies have been awarded contracts for the provision of conventional and digital signalling services under our Train Control Systems Framework. The framework runs from 2024 until 2034 and is worth £4bn, including £3bn for digital signalling. 🚆 This framework replaces the previous major signalling frameworks and has been designed to bring new ways of working between us and our signalling delivery partners. Clive Berrington, group commercial and procurement director at Network Rail, said: “Our new train control systems framework brings a positive change in approach to how we work with suppliers for the provision of signalling services.
