I needed a job right out of law school and the job market wasn't great, so I decided to go for it and started a firm with a partner at first and then on my own. It has worked out well. 2. Phone, Gmail, Flashlight 8. What is your go-to productivity trick? Spreadsheet that acts like a checklist of everything I have to do to create a good product for clients. I'm looking for any dissatisfied current and former clients of CRISP, the lawyer marketing company based in Atlanta, GA. www.crisp.co. I was extremely dissatisfied with the services promised, and ultimately received by CRISP. For starters, the company promised me that my COO could attend seminars in my absence, which they later reneged on unless I paid CRISP thousands of more dollars. The coaching CRISP provided was less than what was desired. The coaches are younger employees that have virtually no experience running a small business, let alone a profitable law firm. The company also constantly tries to upsell you on more expensive services that have very little value, if at all. I'm looking for any lawyers that also share the same experience. Here's the threatening email I received from CRISP's general counsel Robert Adamson: "First and foremost, there is only one party in breach here pursuant to the unambiguous terms and conditions, and that is Davis Legal Group for failure to remit payment. I will take your uninformed legal analysis of the enforceability of the Service Agreement at face value. I can assure you that not only are the terms and conditions fully enforceable through binding arbitration to be held in Atlanta, but that there is already an established precedent demonstrating such. I have every confidence that this matter will be no different, and any allegations of frivolous counterclaims are wholly without merit. Furthermore, I would like to take this opportunity to respectfully remind you that there is a Non-Disparagement clause included in the Terms and Conditions of the Client Service Agreement that you executed which reads as follows: Non-Disparagement. During the term of this Agreement and following the termination of this Agreement for any reason, Client hereby agrees that it will not make any public disparaging statements concerning Crisp or its owners, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, or contracting parties, its business or operations or the services provided by Crisp Accordingly, please be advised that any further veiled threats or actual occurrences of defamation will result in further material breaches of contract by Davis Legal Group. As mentioned above, Crisp is certainly prepared to proceed with arbitration;..... Crisp is willing to accept the following settlement arrangement: Crisp will accept $37,500 paid over six monthly payments of six installments of $6,250 each with the first payment due on or before May 1, 2024 and each subsequent payment due on or before the first of each month thereafter until paid in full. Note, this is a 50% haircut off the remaining principal balance owed, plus a six month payment plan to boot. I can keep this offer open until the end of business on Wednesday, April 24. I hope we can come to an agreement, but should such not be possible then Crisp will proceed to arbitration." If anyone has a similar experience please contact me privately.

Yesterday, Rawls Law Group was closed. I went to the office, however. At this point, I rarely go to the office on weekends. In fact, I try not to work much at all on Saturday or Sunday - especially Sundays. Yet, when no one is here and the place is very still, being in the office can actually be kind of inspiring. I did this because a few weeks ago I agreed to write an article for Trial Lawyer's Journal. I like such projects, but they always take more time and focus than I think they will. When everyone is coming or going at the office - or when I have the multiple distractions and temptations of being at home - it's hard to stay on task. I got to the office and wrote my article. I had no distractions. I even left Maggie at home, somewhat to her chagrin. It was done in one sitting, albeit a kind of long one. I enjoyed doing it, however. So, here is the question: Was this a good use of a day off? Oh yeah. The reality of modern law practice is that you have to be thinking about marketing, always. While doing good work for clients will beget more clients, that's often not enough. You need to get your name out there. Ignore this principle at your peril. Of course, I am all about shameless self-promotion - as those who see my posts know well. As you might guess, I enjoy this process. This will clarify who the expert is, in case your client doesn’t know that yet. 2. 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐬 Why mention fees? Fees are just a detail for your client. He is so impressed with you that he will pay anything for you to work for him. 3. 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩 Your client wants to work with you so badly that he’ll make sure to follow up with you. No need to bother chasing him. He can make the effort. This may seem like a caricature.
