Matches Became a Discount Brand In a deal that would have made Gordon Gekko (of fictional show Wall Street) proud Frasers group has purchased the now bankrupt MATCHES brand and intellectual property only. I recently analysed over 100k customer conversations, reviews and spoke to customers of luxury's leading ecommerce retailers. #datamining #sentimentanlaysis I discovered the main perception with luxury customers of Matches brand is competitive pricing and discounting. Frasers Group own a business called Flannels which sells affordable- discounted luxury products. Matches's brand fits well in amongst their other luxury business's and this is likely why they purchased the brand rights. Matches didn't start life as a discount luxury retailer and part of their downfall was likely because of this position they became stuck in.
