DAY 1 🐘🤖⚖️ Our team had a fantastic day at the Institute of Student Employers Recruitment Conference yesterday. They came away buzzing with inspiration from the fantastic sessions and conversations that they’ve had so far! Here are some key takeaways from our Account Director Chantal Kelsey: 💡 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗼𝗼𝗹 This keynote highlighted a vital insight: students with disabilities bring unparalleled soft skills like communication and resilience. Despite representing 30% of the university population, this talent pool remains largely untapped. It's crucial for companies to authentically embed inclusivity in their recruitment efforts or risk missing out on a vast, valuable talent pool. 🧩 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 (𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 Mark Griffith) Sector-specific careers fairs are losing their appeal as employers shift towards on-campus activations. The challenge now lies in scaling these efforts to meet D&I objectives. It's a complex but essential transition, and we're ready to tackle it head-on. 🦸♂️ 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝘆 Stephen Seki "Embracing failure is a superpower!" This powerful message reminds us that failure is not a setback but a stepping stone to success. It's about learning, growing, and innovating continuously. 💬 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 Creativity is the name of the game! Many companies expressed a need for creative solutions to stay ahead of the competition. We're excited to offer our expertise at FourthWall, helping businesses think outside the box. #ISERec24 #ISEConference #EarlyCareers #StudentEngagement #StudentRecruitment

📣 The lowdown on university campus engagement in the UK 👇 Following on from this month's successful roundtable, TheTalentPeople / GetMyFirstJob is hosting another one on engagement. But this time, it's university engagement. Our community of employers, hosted by Christos Orthodoxou, will be discussing: 💸 The ROI of careers fairs - are they still worth it in 2024? 📊 Examples of how employers are engaging campuses - what's working and what's not? 🆚 Virtual vs. face-to-face campus engagement - which one is better? We don’t record our roundtables and abide by the Chatham House rules, but you can access the conversation by actively joining in and participating live, listening on mute, signing up for the newsletter, and/or reading our report. Due to high demand, we are limiting tickets to one per employer and only employers will be admitted. Secure your free spot now 👉 https://lnkd.in/dhsABnsq We look forward to seeing you there! 👋 #Roundtable #Employers #Recruitment #UniversityCampusEngagement #TheTalentPeople

Im going to throw it out there. Traditional 'sports hall' careers fairs are old hat. They haven't changed in the last 25 years and still involve kids being dragged around stalls playing 'who can get the most free pens'. Ok so I know this is a bit of a generalisation, but surely there is a better way? Have just read, albeit briefly, the OECD work (https://lnkd.in/epA8X4Dy) on using digital technologies to enhance/deliver careers IAG and it is interesting. Not totally sold on it as a full on replacement, as I still think human face to face is best, and i'm not sure they are advocating for an either or anyway. So how do we get the best of both worlds? Education and Industry need to get their heads together and invest in each other and make careers IAG an organic, living and supported part of the education offer for all 5-16/18 year olds. It isn't going to fix itself and is one of the reasons I set up www.yecco.co.uk. Samantha Hornsby OECD - OCDE

Celebrating the Strength and Resilience of Migrant Women I am thrilled to share my latest perspective article on the multifaceted journey of migrant women, focusing on their social, economic, and cultural experiences. This work wouldn't have been possible without the support and insights from Professor Arundati Dandapani, MLitt, CAIP, CIPP/C, and I am deeply grateful to Carolina Echeverría for the beautiful cover image and my classmate Keerthana Vineed for her valuable input. The cover image by Montreal-based Chilean immigrant artist Carolina Echeverria, depicts a woman with children behind her, and an older lady (her roots) bringing HOPE to the new land. Key Insights: -Migrant women face unique challenges, especially in employment and social integration. -Economic independence boosts their confidence and role in family decision-making. -Social support networks play a crucial role in their adaptation and success. According to Statistics Canada, the unemployment rate among migrant women in Canada was 15% in early 2021, highlighting the importance of initiatives like Generation1.ca in providing job opportunities and support. Keerthana Vineed shared her inspiring journey from India to Canada, shedding light on the struggles and triumphs migrant women face. Empowerment through Community: Support networks, both governmental and non-governmental, are vital in helping migrant women overcome barriers and achieve success. Platforms like Generation1.ca are instrumental in offering resources and opportunities for professional growth. Let's continue to support and celebrate the incredible contributions of migrant women in our communities! #MigrantWomen #EconomicEmpowerment #CulturalDiversity #SocialIntegration #CareerDevelopment #Generation1ca #WomenInMigration #CommunitySupport
Understanding Immigrant Women’s Experiences and Multidimensionality As a country and continent of immigrants, we attract droves of people of different nationalities, races and genders every year. However, immigrant integration has become increasingly challenging with economic changes in the post-pandemic era and policies spurred by uncertain environments. Immigrant women often face even greater challenges given language barriers, employment barriers, cultural adjustments and gender role dynamics in a new country. What are some pain points for immigrant women today? How can resources be better channeled and utilized towards greater opportunities in the job market? What other supports can immigrant women access in the face of rising social pressures and new employment dilemmas? Please read our “Understanding Immigrant Women's Experiences and Multidimensionality” blog article by our Winter 2024 Intern Gizem Barutcu, taking a closer look at the social and economic experiences of immigrant women to understand unique challenges women face in moving to a new country specially with employment. Gizem also spoke with her classmate Keerthana Vineed, to discuss their experiences and add to her perspective. Perhaps the challenges you have faced or are currently facing can find resonance in these stories. Don’t miss the incredible artwork "Hope" by Chilean Montrealer artiste, Carolina Echeverría founder of NativeImmigrant.com in the cover. Thank you Carolina, for letting us include your beautiful image. To ease pathways to employment, career success and workforce integration, social enterprise Generation1.ca continues to host successful biannual career fairs and opportunities to connect industry employers to top talent. What a very interesting TheTalentPeople / GetMyFirstJob Campus engagement roundtable I sat in on today! Lots of takeaways, with a few employers trialling campus events and finding success with Universities who are adapting their strategy and engaging more with employers. Here are some highlights from me: 👉63% of employers want to engage with university campuses to build up their pipeline. With 35% looking to support awareness and perception of their brand. 👉The majority of employers are planning on delivering campus engagement through careers fairs (63%) and general campus presence (58%) but some are arranging 1:1 sessions (16%) and lecture drop ins (37%) The main challenges discussed: 📈Difficulty in tracking and measuring brand awareness. Application rate and social media interaction tends to be how the community track this. 🤝Smaller events with 1:1 chats, targeted for industry specific events are more successful but high resource demand 🤔If you build partnerships with certain Universities, how to you ensure you can reach out to everyone, especially those in lower social economic backgrounds #campusengagement #earlytalent #careers
