Shannon Sharpe is calling the shots now. 🙌🏾⭐️ The former NFL player, who is now a commentator and media personality, has found greater security by turning his full attention towards his own media company, Shay Shay Media, and through podcasts such as “Club Shay Shay” and “Nightcap” featuring former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson. Notably, the Katt Williams interview with “Club Shay Shay” on Jan. 3, 2024, became the most-watched interview in YouTube history, with more than 68 million views. ‘The thing that you have to understand is you have to be willing to accept disappointment the same as you accept prosperity.’ So, although I was hurt, I knew the old saying, ‘Sunshine follows rain.'” Looking back, Sharpe’s departure turned out to be advantageous for him. He emphasizes that he can’t be fired from his current media roles because he holds ownership and prioritizes partnerships over just earning a paycheck. “It hurt me to lose because I had put so much into that job, and so now I look at it, I say, now I’m no longer talent,” Sharpe added. “You can’t fire me from Shay Shay Media cause I own it. You can’t fire me from ‘Nightcap.’ You can’t fire me from ‘Club Shay Shay’ ’cause I own it. So that’s the way I look at my business now. You’re going to be my partner. You’re no longer just going to cut me a check to do something, we’re in partnership.” Word 🙌🏾 Articles extracts via Yahoo* #ownership #triumphoveradversity #successmindset #shannonsharpe #clubshayshay

I help organizations create modern learning strategies for their people, partners, and customers | AE @ Docebo | 🎙Host of Sell By Being Human
What can you learn from a "Super Connector"? I think we all know people in our lives that probably fit this description. For me, if there were a gold medal for connecting - Scott MacGregor would be the Michael Phelps of the sport. To give you an idea, Scott started a community called The Outlier Project where one day he might have on people like Kim Scott who wrote Radical Candor. The next day - Claude Silver - Chief Heart Officer at Vaynermedia, and the next he'd have on NFL legend Tiki Barber. If I tagged the hundreds of people Scott has brought to teach us - it would be some of the most famous names in business, sports, music, and the art world. What also amazing - the people he brings to us command tens of thousands of dollars to speak on stages but they give their time to Scott freely without any money exchanging hands. Scott's just provided immense value to them upfront so they pour back into him. This episode of the podcast this week you will learn why that happens. How Scott does build strong bonds with these famous people. How you can bring a little of what he does into your connections. You've heard the term: “your network is your net worth" But Scott doesn't view these people as his "network". He views them as his friends. Check out this clip below about how he views sales in a very simplistic way. It's all about being in alignment. #sales #sellbybeinghuman

Experience is far more valuable than money early in your career. The first 12 to 18 months in a profession will largely dictate the next 12 to 18 years. I understand, we all need money to survive. But a small difference in compensation now will not matter over the long haul. The culture of the TEAM you are joining matters. And I dont mean beanbag chairs, snack closets, and funny hat friday. I mean the values, expectations and standards and the way they view growth and development. The relationship you have with your leader matters. And I dont mean that they are always nice and will let you show up late and leave early. I mean are they someone you admire. Are they someone you want to emulate. Are they someone you can learn stuff from. Are they someone that is kind AKA are they going to tell you where you need to improve and not sugar coat it? I had an incredible conversation on this weeks episode of Merchants of Change with Dan Fantasia, President and CEO of Treeline, Inc. - one of the top sales recruiting firms in the country. I recently had a discussion around career growth and the caution of becoming stagnant. I’ve been in that space before and work to remain diligent that it doesn’t happen again. This piece was very insightful. “Nothing would have changed if I hadn’t realized I had outgrown my position,” Stewart said. Also, this was the best spin the block on employment to come back and buy the company that tried to stunt your growth. Question of the day for myself and others. What’s your growth strategy? #growthmindset #growthanddevelopment
Have you ever felt like you hit a ceiling at your job? Julia Stewart knows the feeling all too well. The former IHOP CEO started out as a server at the restaurant at 16. She’d later bounce from job to job in the restaurant industry, running operations at Taco Bell, before taking a job as president at Applebee’s. But when she was turned down for CEO, Stewart knew it was time to pack her bags. “Nothing would have changed if I hadn’t realized I had outgrown my position,” Stewart said. Her advice? If you aren’t happy with your career, you need to start asking yourself some tough questions. Have you ever felt like your career is stagnating? Comment below. In this episode of LinkedIn’s new flagship series, Catalyst, watch to learn how Stewart smashed the glass ceiling. And subscribe to the newsletter: https://lnkd.in/e-RYcKD5

Have you ever felt like your full potential was being wasted at work? Former IHOP CEO Julia Stewart hit the glass ceiling so many times in her career. But along the way, she cracked — and crafted — her own recipe for smashing through. According to LinkedIn research, women reach leadership positions quicker than men, however, significantly less women ever reach the top. Women have a much smaller window of opportunity earlier in their careers than men; our data suggests they either have to hit that window early in their career or risk missing it altogether. ▶ Watch to learn how Stewart smashed the glass ceiling.
