Empowering businesses to harness the full potential of data | Author | Founder of Mastering Snowflake Program | CTO at INTELLIGEN
Last week, Snowflake revealed that CEO Frank Slootman will be retiring, passing the helm to former Google ad chief Sridhar Ramaswamy. This transition comes at a pivotal moment for Snowflake, which saw its shares dip 24% in extended trading following the news. Frank Slootman, who has been instrumental in Snowflake's monumental growth and successful IPO—the largest software IPO ever—will continue to shape the company's future as chairman of the board. Slootman's leadership took Snowflake public in 2020, marking a historic debut that more than doubled its stock value. Stepping into the CEO role, Sridhar Ramaswamy brings a wealth of experience from his 15 years at Google, where he led the ads and commerce business. His venture into creating Neeva, a consumer search engine, and its subsequent acquisition by Snowflake for $185 million, demonstrates his forward-thinking approach and expertise in technology and business scalability. Snowflake's fourth-quarter financials show a robust 32% year-over-year sales growth, reaching $774.7 million, with product revenue up 33%. Despite the operating losses, the strategic direction under Ramaswamy's leadership is anticipated to leverage opportunities in AI and machine learning, setting Snowflake on a path of sustained growth and innovation. For Snowflake customers and stakeholders, this leadership change signals a promising future. Ramaswamy's vision and Slootman's ongoing influence as chairman are expected to steer Snowflake through its next growth phase, particularly in expanding its AI and machine learning capabilities. While the immediate market reaction reflects uncertainty, the underlying strength of Snowflake's business model, its continued revenue growth, and strategic acquisitions speak to a resilient and evolving company. #Snowflake #LeadershipTransition #CloudComputing #AI #MachineLearning #Innovation

Investment Review day 13 of 50: Snowflake $SNOW Snowflake’s mission is to create a data connected world where organizations have seamless access to explore, share, and unlock the value of their data. Providing cloud-based data warehouses as a service, it wants to help customers access their information and then find ways to make the most of it. It believes this Data Cloud opportunity will become a $290 billion addressable market by 2027, and that's bolstered by key partnerships with companies such as Nvidia, with AI amplifying the value of organisational data. I bought stock in July, and although the position was making great progress, latest earnings were a setback, and we're back into the red. I'm unphased though, this is often the investment journey for volatile stocks, and the long-term investor just needs to see past the short-term fluctuations and focus on the growth and profitability of the underlying business. -- I'm putting my holdings under the microscope. Over the next 50 days I'll break down my whole investment portfolio. Wins, losses, and the 'why' behind it all. And on day 50 I'm going to share the full portfolio! Follow me and let's learn together! #StockAnalysis #50daychallenge

https://lnkd.in/dbEp8fgu Bottom line: VC backed pivate tech businesses like Databricks need to face up to their Hamlet - like 2023 moment "to build the business on sweat equity or not to build the business on sweat equity" the problem is ... "Databricks’ fundraising is aimed at fueling business expansion, but it won’t give employees the opportunity to cash out some of their stakes, one of the people said." Highly restricting an employee's right to "cash out some ... stakes" in 2023 won't fly. Not smart IMO. What do you think? #databricks
