When it comes to pain, the focus is typically on the pain and pain relief, which is understandable, but doesn’t work well — just look at the numbers of people suffering and continuing to suffer. It’s the same as saying don’t think of elephants. Instead, focus on what you want. And re-focus when you need to. An important caveat is to realise where you are — here. The here and now. This is the only moment. So when you are focusing on what you want, you are doing it from here. Not there — there is imaginary. Overcoming pain is about understanding your pain, how you have got to where you are and then following a new path towards your picture of success.
