The first boss I ever had told me that wherever I went, professionally, I had the name of our organization taped on my forehead. Whether it be internal or external customers, or local state or national meetings, seminars, workshops, etc., I was "working" Even in professionally sponsored social gatherings, I was "working." I never forgot that advice. And that it was important to be conscious of my behavior on every level when I was "working." When I became a boss/leader/manager in other organizations I shared that notion with every direct report. I can't tell you the number of times I've encountered folks" behaving badly" in my professional travels." Probably unconscious, in the moment, of who they are representing. You're a walking billboard for your organization. What do you want to be written on that billboard about you/your organization?
