Northern Virginia is facing a big challenge. Only 29% of children living at or near the poverty line attend preschool in Northern Virginia. This puts one of our area’s most vulnerable populations at risk of falling behind. Our free preschool programs serve children who would otherwise be deprived of a preschool experience without this option. And, AART focuses on the whole family, not just the student! We collaborate with families to support their child’s journey and strengthen the parent/school relationship. We envision a future where all children, especially our most vulnerable, enter school prepared to learn and succeed. We strive for universal access to preschool as a part of public education, making the need for AART obsolete. President, Prince of Peace Catholic School (PreK-8, Plano, TX) Past president, principal or head of St. Michael Catholic H.S. (AL), Pope John Paul II H.S. (TN) and Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School (K-12, AL)
Let’s Quit Calling It a “Sacrifice” to Send Children to Catholic Schools! Language matters, and over time, it shapes our thinking. That’s why I advocate that we stop using the word “sacrifice” to describe what parents do when they send their children to Catholic schools. “Sacrifice,” in simplest terms, means “to sell at a loss.” If we tell parents they are “sacrificing” to send their children to us, we are telling them, literally, that they are doing charitable work to send us their kids, when in fact, they are doing exactly the opposite: they are INVESTING in our schools for something of great value for their children. Do we praise parents for their “sacrifice” in purchasing a nice home for their families? Do we thank families for “sacrificing” to take their families on vacation? Of course not. These are value propositions. We judge homes, cars and vacations as worthy of the money we spend. I am not discounting the fact it’s hard for many parents to choose to send us their kids! For some, it’s very hard! But by describing that choice as a “sacrifice,” we unwittingly devalue our schools, projecting ourselves as weak and puny, beggars for our parent's charity. Here, instead, is our value proposition: —Catholic schools provide a first-tier education for their children, within the context of a joyful, practicing community of faith. —Catholic schools help students discern God’s will for their lives, which leads to their life-long happiness. —Catholic schools help kids get to heaven! The truth is, paying to send their children to our schools is the best investment a parent can ever make! Catholic schools need to get our swagger back!

Collaborating with nonprofits to make the internet accessible. Let's partner for disability inclusion!
As a proud partner of St Gabriel’s I am proud to tell you about one of their success stories from 2023. Movement for Change In August this year, St Gabriel’s School in Sydney Australia launched its new social impact initiative, Movement for Change. As a school for children with special needs, St Gabriel’s core focus is enriching the lives of its students and enabling them the same opportunities afforded everyone their age, in school and in the community. From K-12, their programs cover social skills, life skills, financial literacy and vocational education and training. The school’s mission is to make a difference in the lives of its students and to do that the school knows that they also need to make a difference in the world they live in. Did you know, almost 1 in 10 Australians with disability have experienced discrimination because of their disability. Sadly, 4 out of every 5 children with a disability attending school have faced an educational restriction. And nearly half of all employed people with disability reported that they had experienced unfair treatment from their employer due to their disability in the past 12 months. So, what is Movement for Change? It's getting active - physically and socially! The campaign is focused on inclusion and changing the way people see and treat disabilities. St Gabriel’s students and families, as well as other local schools took part in Movement for Change this year. Some people set goals of a weekly fitness class for the month, a set amount of kilometres or steps per day, a school walkathon, or an activities afternoon. They got active and spread the word about why they were doing it, and many also raised money for the school at the same time. The funds raised from Movement for Change go towards programs like work education and social skills which help bridge gaps for the St Gabriel’s students. Helping start Christian schools and preschools -- as missions. Coaching teachers & administrators; helping students learn & grow at full potential. orgstrat. net teachachildchangeanation.org
I have a lot of pastor connections. So, pastor, what do you see as your most important mission? Is it getting more souls saved? Is it discipleship? Is it growing the church? Is it charitable outreach? All these things are fine things, whichever way your particular assignment prioritizes them. Let me offer to your consideration that in all this, we must not overlook the ***children.*** Children's personalities are formed, largely, by the time they are 7 years old. Surely, children are deserving charity recipients. Hardly could they abuse any of your kindness. But they don't have ROI. Or do they? Maybe your most important mission could pay for itself. Check out: https://lnkd.in/g6gWi46 . It is a course in how to start a licensed childcare center (assuming you have the building) (with links to state regulations in the USA.) Step by step. Frugal. Check out what people are saying. Check out my little video and freebie! Go now to https://lnkd.in/g6gWi46
Here is a mission that can pay for itself! Get paid to save souls and change the world — really and truly.
