As I leave Australia and head back home after one full week, I wanted to farewell with this picture taken at one of our clients’ offices overlooking Sydney Harbour.
An open, stable, and globally connected economy with strong trade and investment relationships with the world's fastest growing economies make Australia a natural gateway for international business, with preferential market access to the dynamic Asia-Pacific region.
While this was not my first trip to Australia, it was my first on business and not as a tourist. Having met multiple IBM clients, Business Partners, Value Added Distributors and System Integrators in both Sydney and Melbourne, I can comfortably say that Australia is no different when it comes to organizations contemplating how to best leverage AI as it becomes a progressively influential part in our daily lives. No doubt AI will play an even more crucial role in the way we conduct our businesses, but it is also important to remember that AI is not a destination in itself, but rather a tool that can be used to help organizations reach their goals more effectively and efficiently.
For more than 100 years, IBM has continuously strived for responsible innovation capable of bringing benefits to everyone and not just a few. We apply the same philosophy to AI through our Principles for Trust and Transparency.
1) The purpose of AI is augment — not replace — human intelligence
2) Data and insights belong to their creator
3) New technology, including AI systems, must be transparent and explainable
Last week, IBM launched a $500 million Enterprise AI Venture Fund. This fund will fuel innovation, strategic partnerships and generate returns by investing in enterprise AI-focused startups which also demonstrates our continued commitment to the effective and responsible deployment of AI.
