Important! That world at last beginning to be at the very least ... intelligent about AI, before it ceases to be at all, fails to last much longer ... We Auditors believe in suspecting, not trusting. The least trusting we must be to ourselves, our lot, our nature, our greedy destructive instincts. And the least of the least, we must be of the most "intelligent" among us. For they have the most destructive power, potential to cause damage. Not only that, they have a natural tendency, a much higher than averahe propensity, to be arrogant. They pose the biggest Risk. And we are Risk Professionals. Risk Driven. Homing in on Risk, like Bees on Γυρις (I used the Greek word as the English escapes me). On a priority basis. Top priority being to EXISTENTIAL Risks. Like AI. Like no other Risk, in extent and scope of Threat.

This morning, the U.K.’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the U.S.’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued what is believed to be the world’s first AI safety agreement. This is a notable moment in the evolution of artificial intelligence, and a big win regarding cybersecurity and appropriate controls around this rapidly-developing technology. The guidelines are based on frameworks and guidance from several international cyber agencies. Eighteen countries have signed onto the agreement, which aims to help developers ensure that cybersecurity is a pre-condition of AI system safety and a core part of any AI development process. The U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, said the new guidelines “provide a common sense path to designing, developing, deploying, and operating AI with cyber security at its core. By integrating ‘secure by design’ principles, these guidelines represent a historic agreement that developers must invest in, protecting customers at each step of a system’s design and development.” The development – and international adoption – of safety protocols is a welcome and important step forward in the AI journey.
