Education in Hawkes Bay is being designed to collapse
The other question that is important, can those two designated schools cater for all the students that are suddenly required to change to those schools to enable them to get schooling. Potentially 8 buses of probably 50 students each. 400 students split between 2 schools. Do they really have 4 to 5 unused class rooms and teachers, each. Probably 300 to 400 families torn apart because the Ministry of Education wants to save money and poor the cost onto individual families for new uniforms new ideologies, some having to move from thier homes closer to the schools. This 8 bus cancellation is only the tip of the iceberg. Districts will suffer as the other school routes that are not mentioned in this article take affect.
The planned recession of bus routes discovered so far are: Te Pohue cut from 63 km to 24 km saving the ministry $17, 600 per year or costing the district that much if we wish to keep the school opperating well, and high school students in the district are forbiden to ride the primary school bus (I guess that is too efficient for the MoE), the Waimarama primary bus route is to be cancelled, Tiniroto bus cancelled, nearly every rural school is being targettted from the messages I am getting. What sort of schooling entity destroys the education of our young people. People in charge of public entities should have empathy for what they do. There is no empathy for education in the Ministry of Education. Please everyone who is affected speak up! The Ministry of Education may be a toxic organisation to deal with, and quote rules, but as a community we can face them collectively. Every community, every Iwi, every council, every family, every Marae needs to speak up, or we lose our education, we lose rural schools, we lose our communities, we lose our resilience.
