Tuskegee University has announced its new flight school degree program, set to begin in the fall. This program has been made possible by a generous $6.7 million federal grant sponsored by Alabama Senator Katie Britt. The program offers a bachelor's degree in Aviation Science (pilot track) with two components: general education core and aviation science courses, as well as flight training leading to FAA certification for private and commercial pilot certificates. The university aims to combat the pilot shortage and address diversity, equity, and inclusion needs in an industry that is experiencing a growing demand due to increased air travel. This is good news. I look forward to hearing successful results from this investment. An action plan should put in place for students in middle and high schools to be on the aviation track.
Tuskegee University comes to the rescue again.
See what’s possible when politicians stop being partisan weirdo’s and do something just because it benefits humanity? I can always support this. 🙏🏾
No place deserves a flight program more! Congratulations!
And the legacy continues…love it Tuskegee University…
Fantastic. We should all rally behind this. Big need and another opportunity to help close the wealth gap.
About time!!! Land-grant, historically Black colleges and universities have missed out on more than $13 billion they should have gotten in the last three decades or so, according to letters the Biden administration sent to the governors of 16 states appealing to them to invest more money in HBCUs. This is a significant reason why Republicans under Project2025 want to do away with funding education, went after affirmative action and is attempting to dismantle all student loans along with the Department of Education.
We have a Aerospace Engineering CTE program. We would love to having our scholars have access to think program in partnership with Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy.
Wonderful! How do you think this will positively impact the future of the airline industry as a whole?

3wThe amount of times I've had to tell people that Tuskegee does NOT have an aviation program despite being the home of the Tuskegee Airman... and now it will be so.
