[Part 1- The Dream] The thought of joining the National Cadet Corps(NCC) wasn't new to me as I had it since 10th grade when I was very sure I wanted to join the prestigious National Defence Academy and NCC was one of the gateways to feel what it's like to be part of a Defence Organization but my dreams were shattered when I couldn't get admission in any college specialising in Science for grade 11 and which were also affiliated to NCC. My dreams were shattered but I had no time to think about it as shifted my focus to crack the NDA exam and be part of the Academy myself to experience the feeling firsthand. [ Part 2- The Chase For It) As I completed my 12th I chose to further complete my Bachelors in B.B.A Computer Applications. So why didn't I give NDA? The simple answer to that was I dropped Maths as a subject which was a compulsion to take the NDA Exam because I always liked Biology more and never really had a connection with Maths and eventually lost interest in it and was failing Maths. But as they say, if you really wish for something the universe will unite you together well something like that happened to me when I was about to take admission for Uni and got to know that I can still take part in NCC for the tenure of 3 years alongside my University academics. The struggles after that just sky-rocketed but the end journey was one to remember. Something to learn from my younger self. During my younger days, I remembered I wasn't serious about my future and I played a lot, never really studied much. I only started to focus on studying during my university days (Dad spent alot of money for me to go Australia to study 😂😂). But before the transition to university, it was NS! And during NSF period, it was a very interesting time. During BMT phase, I wanted to achieve some awards so badly that I did my best to impress everyone. But I think I tried too hard. Then after my air grading course which I failed, I was posted to SISPEC. So instead of trying hard, I decided I just be myself and genuinely help others and build bonds with others in my unit. Surprisingly, I won the best in company awards. And there's where I started my achievements in the army (best cadet, sword of merit, etc). Just by being myself. I think there is an insight here from my younger self that is still applicable today. That is to realign my intentions and priorities. When my goal was simply to outshine others, I didn't succeed. But when I focused on the bigger picture - on genuinely helping others - I found that success naturally followed. These accomplishments, however, were the result of a shifted perspective, one that prioritized authenticity and the welfare of others over personal ambition. This is a lesson I still hold dear today: Your intentions will always shape the outcome. #samconnect

PROGRAM The Tuskegee NEXT Summer Flight Program is a full-time, residential program in the Chicago area that runs from mid-June to mid-August. TUSKEGEE NEXT CADET ELIGIBILITY Age: Between the ages of 18-20 Education: Completed junior year of high school Must hold a minimum 2.75 GPA Additional consideration will be given to those students that have completed advanced or college-level courses Physical Condition: All applicants’ medications must be disclosed and shall not disqualify such applicant according to FAA and ADA standards All applicants’ prior medical procedures must be disclosed and shall not disqualify such applicant according to FAA and ADA standards All applicants must successfully complete an FAA medical exam Extra-Curricular: Additional consideration will be given to applicants that participate in extra-curricular activities Additional consideration will be given to applicants that have participated in aviation-related activities Additional consideration will be given to applicants that have already passed the FAA written exam Additional consideration will be given to applicants that have actual flight experience APPLICATION PROCESS Completed applications must be submitted prior to December 31 and include: Student Application Background information including: Official High School Transcript or College Transcript Complete Need-Based Scholarship Form Copy of Identification (e.g. Driver's License, State ID, or Passport) W-2 form (Must be submitted as a PDF file) Two letters of recommendation A short essay answering the following prompts: If selected to be a Tuskegee NEXT cadet, what are your short-term and long-term goals and how do these goals honor the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen? #tuesdaymotivation Do you want to grow, both personally and professionally? Get uncomfortable! There are so many ways to do this too. Opportunities abound. You just have to be watching and wanting to grow. Challenge and adversity are the right mix of soil, water, and sunlight to produce growth in you. You will not find me in the picture below, because I am the one taking it. This is Day 1 of Jumpmaster School that was conducted for USASOC, circa summer 2012. It is the entrance exam, if you will. Soldiers rig their ruck according to the standard and then are inspected. Those that fail are told to go home and try again next time. I went to Jumpmaster school at the 82nd's Advanced Airborne School. This course is tough and rigorous, and statistically less than 60% graduate the course. Now that is a challenge. Ask any jumpmaster and they will most likely agree that the course was not only tough and rigorous, but it also wore on you mentally as there is no rest for the weary. What makes the photo significant for me is that I was one of the Black Hats in this course. To be selected to be a Jumpmaster Instructor is even more attestation to an Airborne Soldier's resolve and commitment to excellence. Again, if you want to grow, if you want to be better today than you were yesterday, get uncomfortable. Do it now and don't wait for Monday.
