Neurodiversity Celebration Week is March 18 through March 24. Research suggests 15-20% of the world’s population exhibits some form of neurodivergence, yet most organizations lack neurodiversity related initiatives in their DEI strategic plans. Creating a neuroinclusive work environment benefits everyone. Check out this article authored by Dr. Aviva Legatt and Dr. Ludmila Praslova on how young neurodivergent professionals can thrive and succeed in the workplace. #neurodiversitycelebrationweek #neuroinclusion #neurodiversityawareness #neurodiversity

This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week, which is a worldwide initiative that sets out to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. Through awareness building, it sets out to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported, and to celebrate the many talents that neurodivergent people have. It acknowledges that there is much that the neurotypical world should adjust in order to be more inclusive, equitable and empowering. Our Director, Gerard Atkinson MBA QPR GAICD, is a vocal advocate for neurodivergence both in his role at ARTD, in his extracurricular board roles, and his lived experience as an Autistic person. In this article, Gerard shares how ARTD has reshaped our hiring process through a lens of neurodivergence to make it both more accessible for everyone and to foster better decision making. https://lnkd.in/gfrZ5uXT #evaluation #neurodiversitycelebrationweek #inclusivehiring

It’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week next week and there are a great array of events organised by Neurodiversity Celebration Week When discussing Neurodiversity (and disability for that matter), we often focus on the adjustments that those individuals may need. That’s absolutely the right thing to do but I also love the fact that next week is a Celebration too. Neurodiverse people have so many strengths such as creativity, hyper focus, detailed processing and can bring a sense of authenticity to any workplace. Of course, like anything, this requires the right environment to thrive- and this is where leaders have a big role to play. So what does this have to do with Legal Ops? Well our jobs are to ensure our department is functioning efficiently and teams are enabled to be their Best. We all know that diverse teams make the Best teams which means we can play an important role in ensuring our people have what they need to do their jobs well. As a first step- work with HR to ensure your recruitment practices are set up to attract Neurodiverse candidates. Broaden your networks (James Smither just did a great post on this) and consider using different interview formats and allowing candidates to familiarise themselves with it beforehand. There are many small changes that we can all make which will unlock so much potential- with zero downside. It’s a true win-win… those don’t often come around so let’s make the most of it 👏
