Today I cleared my schedule and made time to make ice cream in my daughters class. Never in my life did I realize how much joy this would bring to me because I love ice cream and my kids. The craziest part was how much I learned from being in the classroom like: -3 ways to calm my body -How to make cleaning up fun -Bouncing back when things go unplanned And more! While yes, I stepped away from work. It was so incredible to learn these little lessons I can bring back to people that I work with and my Sprinkles Community! #parenthood #hr #family #hireme #mom

It's all about the approach when it comes to getting kids to eat their veggies! Recently, I came across Veggiecraft Farms, a game-changer in sneaking in healthy options while keeping it delicious. Initially, the classic "just eat it" approach didn't work with my son. So, I shifted gears, empowering him to feel in control and letting him think it was his idea. A simple change like leaving just one string of spaghetti in the bowl sparked his interest. Interestingly, after I had a piece on my plate, he wanted in too. Starting with one strand, he ended up requesting 24 strands in his bowl! It's a testament to the power of strategy over content. Parenting has taught me that it's not always about what you offer but how you present it. I've found that many client service skills are valuable in navigating parenthood. Asking for help is one of the hardest things to do because: - I can get rejected - I feel I should be able to do it myself - I feel bad - I don’t feel worthy - I am embarrassed And the list goes on. Last week we were so excited to have been accepted for an interdistrict transfer to one of the best districts in the state. BUT, once the school realized that there was an IEP in place they revoked the offer. Turns out it isn't discrimination but it is so disappointing that as young as 5 years old; if you don't meet the "typical mold" your opportunities and educational systems start to drastically change. #autistm #education #edtech #specialneeds #distrimination #adovate

Just heard a term recently called "lawnmower parents". "Parents who are excessively involved in their children's lives. They plow ahead—to protect their kids from failure, disappointment, discomfort, and adversity". This struck a nerve, as maybe I am one. But, when it comes to advocating for your child in schools; you need to be. It all starts when you are at the hospital delivering your baby. The triage and the nurses are so busy they overlook your needs. Unless you have a partner or you are a self-advocate; you are screwed. Now trying to navigate support for my son. It has been extremely confusing to figure out and receive correct information from the various players and parties. I am so grateful for Kyo team who has been able to help support my son as well as help me navigate so that the school year is set up for success!

Transitions can be challenging for many of us, whether it's starting a new job, attending a meeting, or simply finding a new place to meet someone. But have you ever considered the constant transitions that come with summer for kids? From weekly camp changes to vacations and end/beginning of the year school events, the period from May to August can feel like a non-stop marathon of adjustments. It's a season filled with transitions and socializing and feels like a summer limbo until school starts again. (Picture of my son’s first day of camp to fill the week before his offficial summer camp starts.. yes ironic.. will do the same “camp” before the week school starts).
