Do you really see your team and colleagues? As they take on new projects, do you offer words of encouragement... even to the folks who seem self assured?
I was reminded of just how important this can be last week after my daughter attended her 3rd grade meet-the-teacher event. Each kiddo was given a QR code so that all the students could listen to a bedtime story for the night before school read by their brand new teacher. It was a sweet story about kindness, empathy, and having fun at school.
I watched my daughter's smile broaden and her shoulders relax as I braided her hair on that new-school-year-eve.
She wasn't actively anxious. And yet. She was stepping into the unknown - new teachers, new routines, a much later lunchtime (gasp!). Lots of new waters to navigate. The read aloud video gave her a chance to hear her teacher's excitement. As she listened to the sweet story (at least 5 times), I could see her sinking into her excitement for the new instead of stewing in the shallows of trepidation.
A great reminder of the power of proactive thoughtfulness, kindness, and encouragement. We can all use encouragement as we embark on something new. Think of someone who is tackling something new - reach out. They likely don't *NEED* the encouragement. And yet, it might bring a bit more ease so that the new feels more fun. #Encourage #BeThoughtful
