Children Left Behind by Incarcerated Mothers Children of incarcerated mothers are often overlooked, making them some of the most vulnerable members of our society. By raising awareness and fostering supportive environments, we can mitigate the adverse effects they face and provide them with a better chance at a stable and hopeful future. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that these children are not left behind, and mothers' incarceration should be a last resort option and always prioritise children's best interests. Society can support children of incarcerated mothers by raising awareness, fostering supportive environments, and implementing policies and programs that not only address the root causes of incarceration but also extend compassion and support to these innocent children who bear the brunt of its consequences. Additionally, creating equitable workplaces for working mothers and providing support groups and counselling can help mitigate the adverse effects these children face.

Retired Military Special Needs Dad || I help military special needs families by highlighting quality of life issues
🏁 For the #military #exceptionalneeds and #neurodiversity community, there will be a Congressional meeting on the NDAA 11 June. Below are the special interest items. https://lnkd.in/gYPYSnia ⬅ Items of interest for #EFMP / SNP #militaryfamilies: Access to #ABA via the #Autism Care Demonstration - 1 Mar 2025 briefing on the number of providers, number of beneficiaries participating, and number of beneficiaries on wait lists. Feasibility of integrating clinical case management in EFMP - 1 Mar 2025 briefing. 💡 Note: IMO, the non-clinical case management should be integrated into the military health system and not into EFMP, which is an assignment focused program. Military incapacitated adult children - 31 Dec 2024 report on findings from the Secondary Dependency Claims Working Group, a plan for implementing recommendations from the 2021 GAO report, and feasibility of making dependency determinations based on guardianship/conservatorship. 💡 Note: Secondary Dependency is closely related to TRICARE eligibility beyond the age of 26 for dependents incapable of self-support as well as possibly Survivor Benefit Plan eligibility beyond the age of 18 (or 22 if in school) for children. Services supporting dependents with #specialneeds and their #caregivers - 1 Mar 2025 briefing on ECHO nursing care and habilitative services, respite care (distinct from service branch provided program), analysis of barriers to ECHO, and analysis of ECHO Home Health Care (EHHC). #SpecialEducation legal assistance in EFMP - 1 Jul 2025 report on oversight for special education legal assistance for all the services, number of families referred to American Bar Association Military and Veterans Legal Center, and number of families that received assistance. ⬅ Items of interest for the #neurodiversity community: Autism research on females [in the military]- 1 Apr 2025 briefing on current DoD research, rates of diagnosis for females as compared to males, potential career impacts if undiagnosed, recommendations for research/policies/resources. Medical qualifications for accessions of military applicants - 1 Mar 2025 briefing on what treatments, conditions, and medications should be reevaluated to ensure a fair and reasonable pathway to accession to service. 💡 Note: This briefing attempts to address societal stigma to seeking behavioral health services which may impact #recruitment efforts. ⬅ Items of interest for #mentalhealth issues: Behavioral health provider expansion - The HASC encourages DoD to increase utilization of behavioral health residents who are supervised by behavioral health providers. 💡 Note: This is not a briefing and I'm not sure how this specifically helps provider expansion. #Suicide Analytic Variable Evaluation System - The HASC encourages the Air Force to prioritize the SAVES program using #AI to predict suicide trends and behaviors. Note: My son's adaptive stroller covered by TRICARE ECHO.

I am thrilled to share this powerful insight about the transformational impact of reentry programs! Did you know? Reentry programs do not only help individuals reintegrate back into society. They also restore hope, dignity and second chances. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 1️⃣ 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲. Reentry programs help individuals who have been impacted by justice to break the cycle of incarceration. 2️⃣ 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀. When we invest into reentry programmes, we are investing in safer and more vibrant communities. We create growth and healing opportunities for all by offering a pathway to rehabilitation. 3️⃣ 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆. We unlock the potential of individuals by equipping them with the skills and resources they need to make a meaningful contribution to our workforce. 4️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗺. Studies have shown that access to reentry programmes reduces the likelihood of repeat offenses. We can create a more equitable and brighter future by addressing the root causes of crime, providing support, and addressing those. 🆃🅾🅶🅴🆃🅷🅴🆁, let's create a society that allows everyone to thrive. #SecondChances, #ReentrySuccess, #SocialImpact 💪 🌍

Championing a Better Future for Young Caregivers | Strategic Communicator & Business Builder | Creating Solutions & Raising Awareness to Help Over 5.4M+ US Caregiving Youth Thrive
Promising. Every step forward in recognizing Caregiving Youth in the United States is a Big Deal. Let's work together to leverage this press that raises awareness of young caregivers to take purposeful action: "We need to identify and support these kids, including, but not limited to, organized government data collection and targeted social policies." Yesterday, Wall Street Journal published an article by Clare Ansberry (featuring American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY) | 'Millions of American Kids Are Caregivers Now: ‘The Hardest Part Is That I’m Only 17’ - "An estimated 5.4 million children help care for relatives, as families can’t afford or find other in-home care" https://lnkd.in/eakkByTf Tonight, 60 Minutes will air | Children of War I Sunday on 60 Minutes "Scott Pelley reports on America’s children of war, often overlooked, who live with disabled military veterans. Millions of kids are stepping up to help wounded warriors and their families deal with the emotional and physical trauma of service." (featuring The Elizabeth Dole Foundation) https://lnkd.in/eX4e_3q7 There's been a bit of positive momentum lately. It feels like the tide is showing promising signs of turning for these kids. We need to keep pushing for their sake. #CaregivingYouth #KidsAreCaregiversToo #YoungCarers #YoungCaregivers #AwareTheyCare #Caregivers
