Wynn vs. Fontainebleau: Let's Get Ready to Rumble! (Update) - Multiple customers that either stayed or played at Fontainebleau in the last 30 days all report the same thing, "Fontainebleau is a ghost town." There are several great business lessons here: Happy Wynn employees don't leave for a few shekels. My response would be to the traitors, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." As a candidate, always perform your due diligence before accepting a job. Fontainebleau has blown through four Casino Presidents in less than a year. Several SVP/VP executives have come and gone. Don't care how much they are paying you, going to Fontainebleau at this point is a CLM (career limiting strategy). Las Vegas is a city of 2,200,000 run by 200 people. If you get sideways with people, it's off to Asia or tribal gaming for you. Relationships trump talent. The LinkedIn video tab has arrived on my app. Wow, game changer. I did find myself scrolling down unimpressed by the content. Abit samey and nothing really stood out. Was I bit more critical as I was in scroll mode? Did I feel I was on Instagram or Facebook. Remember you have barely 3 seconds to engage someone on video scroll. Which made me think! It's time to catch up with another Alan R. Jones team member! This week's spotlight is on Dan Smith, our Workshop Manager. Although catching up with such a busy man was hard, we acquired his trusty 10mm socket as ransom until he spoke to us about his role, passions, and what keeps his wheels turning! Q: What's your role at Alan R. Jones?  A: Workshop Manager    Q: How long have you worked at Alan R. Jones?  A: 12 years  Q: What does your day look like at Alan R. Jones?  A: The day starts and continues to be interesting and challenging throughout the day, always a new challenge as we work on a wide variety of vehicles and trailers with our wide range of customers from the small scaffolding fleet to blue chip company fleets, so never a dull moment.     Q: What do you most like about working at Alan R. Jones?  A: The thing I like most is the sense of achievement and pride I get from working with a great team, keeping the wheels turning. It's all about the people around me striving for the same goals.  Q: What do you like to do when you are not at work?  A: When not at work, I spend time with my partner Sally, and we have a great social life in which we share our love of music and go to concerts and festivals as much as possible. I sing and play the guitar and piano at an open mic night on occasion, and of course, we have children and grandchildren, so family time is important, too.
