This webinar was a blast - the dialogue/conversations/chat were off the charts with great questions, thoughts, input . . . . and there's been a whole lot of ongoing discussion since then. Thanks to everybody who's reached out with more ideas/thoughts/question.
There's a lot going on in #fundraising today and my whole point here is:
Use actual data and real experience to inform your path forward, especially this year. Don't make assumptions. Because assumptions also fuel bias.
For example:
- The economy's terrible and nobody's giving!
---- Well, actually the consumer confidence index is higher than its been in years, leisure spending is off the charts, and all economic indicators are looking pretty decent. Yes, things are more expensive -- but people are buying. And giving.
- It's an election year, everyone's worn out, nobody's giving!
---- For the last 3-4 presidential elections in the United States charitable giving has increased in election years. Values are front-and-center and in the news, so people are likely thinking more about what's most important to them.
