Scientific research has proven that humans store memories and emotions on a cellular level, leading to lasting impacts from traumatic experiences. Non-traditional approaches to healing, such as somatic therapies, focus on the mind-body connection and offer new avenues for trauma recovery. Techniques like trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness, therapeutic gardening, and aromatherapy provide survivors with tools to reconnect with their bodies and minds. These practices aim to alleviate stress, regulate emotions, and promote overall wellness by engaging both the physical and mental aspects of healing. Learn more, https://ow.ly/qRhG50Ra4K9.

Specialist physiotherapist & integrative somatic practitioner. Using trauma-informed & compassionate care to empower people to move with more ease, do what they love, maximise wellness & thrive.
Yesterday I spent the morning doing admin, a big part of which was developing a resource for the 4 week nervous system regulation workshop series that starts in September. These workshops are part one of the ‘Listening to Our Inner Wisdom’ workshop collection which blends science & wisdom traditions together. There is more information about these workshops on my website: https://lnkd.in/dMifR5vJ The resource I was working on is a handout with a summary of the 3 main polyvagal states & the two blended ones combined with a practice I’ve developed called creating your tree of regulation. The tree of regulation is something The tree or regulation practice started to form during the somatic trauma therapy certificate I finished at the end of last year and I’ve been sitting with it on and off as it’s evolved. I’m super excited to share this practice with people as it combines somatics & embodiment, the wisdom of our body, natures wisdom & polyvagal theory. Understanding nervous system regulation & our own nervous system can help us thrive & navgaite challenges, it is part of hearing the wisdom of our body & healing. Understanding our nervous system & having practices that help us regulate enough can really support navigating the challenges in life. In these workshops people will develop a toolkit of somatic & embodiment practices. The nervous system regulation workshops include: 👉🏻 Connection to ourselves & others 👉🏻 Understanding the nervous system through the lenses of a few different nervous system regulation models 👉🏻 Gentle yoga & other somatic & embodiment practices 👉🏻 Meditation 👉🏻 Breath practices 👉🏻Journalling & reflections All of these things help us connect and listen to our body & hear our inner wisdom. One of the things people get as part of attending is the opportunity to attend quarterly somatic compassionate community practice meetings starting in 2025. People who attend any of the main parts of the ‘Listening to Our Inner Wisdom’ series can attend these practice meetings, as well as anyone who attended my Creating A Healing Path workshop series. There are only 10 places available on the workshops starting the 7th Sept (7 are left currently). The workshops have an early bird discount until the end of July. It is important to me that my workshops are inclusive and accessible so I’m offering two community funded places if needed, I trust people will only ask for one of these places if needed. There is a pay it forward option too (where people can choose to pay more to help fund the reduced cost places). If you would like to attend get in touch to book your free 15 minute pre-booking call. Before this call I will send you a what to expect document so you can see a summary of what’s included each week and a health questionnaire so that I can check anything related to this during the call if needed. There is no obligation to book after this call.

Integration is a critical component of ketamine and psychedelic therapies, emphasizing that while the substance may act as a facilitator for new insights, lasting change is cultivated in the work that follows. This process involves reflecting on the experience, understanding its implications, and making intentional changes in behavior, thought patterns, and lifestyle. It challenges the misconception that psychedelic substances alone can "fix" us, underscoring the importance of active participation in one's healing journey. #PsychedelicTherapy #KetamineTherapy #MentalHealthAwareness #HealingJourney #PersonalGrowth #Mindfulness #BehavioralChange #PsychedelicIntegration #WellnessJourney https://lnkd.in/gQeTdd7y

The Key To Healing @fitomizefitness The parasympathetic nervous system is our body’s amazing way of helping us rest and digest, allowing us to shift from survival mode to a state of deep relaxation and connection. It’s in this beautiful space that true healing can take place - body, mind, and soul. As I embarked on my own healing journey, I discovered the profound importance of shifting from a constant state of protection to one of connection. Our bodies thrive when we prioritize self-care, release tension, and create space for introspection and self-compassion. It’s a shift that has brought me immense joy, inner peace, and a newfound sense of vitality. So, how can we activate and nurture our parasympathetic nervous system? Here are a few practices that have worked wonders for me: 1. Embracing mindfulness: Taking time to be fully present and engage in mindful activities such as meditation, deep breathing, or gentle yoga can help shift us into a calmer state and promote healing from within. 2. Connecting with nature: There’s something incredibly powerful about immersing ourselves in nature’s beauty. Whether it’s a simple walk in the park, grounding our feet in the sand, or gazing at a starlit sky, being in nature helps us reconnect with our true essence and find peace. 4. Cultivating healthy connections: Surrounding ourselves with supportive, positive relationships and engaging in activities (like dancing) that bring us joy is a powerful way to foster connection and boost our overall well-being. This journey of shifting from protection to connection is an ongoing practice, and it’s not always easy. But let me tell you, the rewards are immeasurable. By inviting more calm, love, and peace into our lives, we allow our bodies, minds, and souls to heal and thrive on a profound level. Want to practice more parasympathetic activities? Mindful Healing: Navigating Trauma with Wisdom Diving into the profound insights of Gabor Maté, a renowned speaker and author whose work has deeply resonated with me, I’ve found a profound connection between his teachings and my own mindfulness practice. Maté’s understanding of trauma as a disconnection from ourselves resonates deeply with me. Through mindfulness, I’ve learned to reconnect with my inner self, observing my thoughts and emotions without judgment. This practice has allowed me to understand the impact of past traumas on my life and has empowered me to take control of my healing journey. His questions, particularly ‘What happened to you?’ and ‘How did it affect you?’ have been powerful tools in my mindfulness practice. They’ve helped me explore the root causes of my emotions and behaviors, fostering a deeper understanding of myself. Mindfulness has also taught me the importance of self-compassion and the power of connection in healing. By cultivating a compassionate attitude towards myself and fostering meaningful connections with others, I’ve been able to approach healing with greater understanding and empathy. As I continue to explore Maté’s work and deepen my mindfulness practice, I am reminded of the transformative power of self-awareness and compassion. They continue to guide me on my path to healing and self-discovery. #GaborMaté #TraumaHealing #Mindfulness #SelfCompassion #Connection #SelfDiscovery https://amzn.to/4ce9sZG

Certified Somatic Coach | Helping coaches learn how to tune into the wisdom of the body so they can get their clients lasting sustainable results | DM me for more information
I teach over a dozen somatic techniques and practices within the Somatic Coach Certification. And you won’t just learn them on a logical level – you’ll have hours to practice, perfect, and embody them. Let’s take a peek at 3 of the most transformative somatic practices you’ll learn in the Somatic Coach Certification: #1 Breathwork This one is a NO brainer. Once you know the mechanics of breathwork, it’s so easy to use with your clients. They’ll be amazed at how such a simple thing creates such deep peace, even when they’re in struggle. Change can only happen when the nervous system is in a regulated state. And science has proven that breathing techniques are one of the most powerful tools we have to regulate the nervous system. Inside SCC I teach you the most effective breathing techniques so you can share them with your clients and they can hit and achieve their goals. #2 Body Medicine This is how we access the unconscious mind, which holds the wisdom for healing and growth. It’s the science of tuning into the body and listening to the messages it has to give. The body remembers everything – all your experiences, traumas, anxieties… Often, what you think needs to be released or changed actually needs to be integrated. We create this integration, this wholeness, through somatic embodiment practices. Body medicine is the practice of connecting to the symptoms and sensations that your client is experiencing and then doing deep inquiry to learn what wisdom and medicine these symptoms have to offer. Body medicine is going to become one of the best tools in your back pocket to help your clients heal past trauma & access their true potential. #3 Ventral Anchoring When you know how to anchor your client back into a regulated state, you can help her move out of the survival responses of flight, fright, freeze, or fawn, and into a state where she is open and receptive. Ventral anchoring is a science-backed technique to bring your client into a state of calm centeredness, so she can connect with her with her own power. All three of these techniques will also help you safely and effectively help your client if they are triggered or having a trauma response. This is just a small sampling of what you get to experience and master inside Somatic Coach Certification. You’ll become one of the few coaches who is fully prepared and qualified to help your clients navigate through what they are coming to you for. Don’t fall into the sea of unqualified coaches out there with good intentions who are unable to get their clients results, because they’re totally bypassing the body. Learn, practice & embody the skills you need to get your clients real, lasting results. 2 days left to join the August cohort. Link in bio to apply
