Last week was an eventful and productive experience at the Innovation Hub powered by Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation. We welcomed over 100 new visitors for a variety of events. Members from the United States Air Force, United States Space Force, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, and their industry partners convened in the boardroom last week for their biannual safety stakeholder meeting. They focused on a broad range of ways to protect the public and critical assets from the hazards associated with space launch and reentry events. Several visitors stopped by for a tour of the SDA TAP Lab and Innovation Hub. Space Systems Command's Space Safari Team and SSC/SEL Chief Jacqueline Sauvé came to learn more about the work the Lab is doing in cohort 3 and explored further opportunities for #collaboration. The CTIO team took a detour from their Space Data and AI Capabilities Days to tour the Innovation Hub and discuss future partnership opportunities. Also, the BC/CTO team welcomed folks from BAE Systems for a second demo of their capabilities that include software testing models, system integration, and digital modeling for interested parties at the Innovation Hub. Events will continue to pick up this summer. Throughout June, the Innovation Hub will welcome teams from SpOC, BCCD, SZG, BCS, and more. This week, the SDA TAP Lab will host speakers from the Aerospace Corporation for an expert talk on to discuss AI/ML, electro-optical / infrared sensors, and more. And BC/CTO Brian DeLong will return for his weekly Waffles on Wednesday in July. How do we merge the intuitive capabilities of humans with the algorithmic precision of AI? In a recent HR Leaders Live episode, we met with Brady Pyle, Vice President Human Resources at Space Center Houston. Brady’s rich experience, including his tenure as NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer, affords him a unique look into AI's future in the workplace. And he was kind enough to give us a behind-the-scenes look in one of the world’s most technologically-advanced organizations. Against the backdrop of the pandemic, teams at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration grappled with the absence of spontaneous 'hallway conversations' that often lead to innovation, ultimately turning to a solution supported by technology. From Mars rovers to Robonaut on the International Space Station, AI has been pivotal in assisting humans for years. The potential is limitless. Interested in being part of the discussion?
