I had this plan where I’d pen this long-winded LinkedIn article to celebrate the 5th year anniversary of Quan Media Group. I’d explain how this was never what I had planned to do, and thank a million people, recap a bunch of fun campaigns and end with “and here’s to the next 5!” I’ll stick to a long-winded LinkedIn post instead. I feel incredibly blessed to wake up everyday loving what I do. To those who don’t - it’s never too late to change that. I am having an incredible amount of fun and often times can’t believe this is what I’m doing. This past weekend I was on line at a breakfast spot on Long Island. The gentleman behind me tapped my shoulder and said he recognized me. It was from my job at Cafe Dolce Vita, the pizzeria I worked at for over 8 years. When he asked me what I was doing now, I couldn't have been more excited to tell him. I work with amazing people who have enhanced my career, and have made me a better person. I work with brands who are blowing up and becoming game changers for their respective categories. I work with media partners who have supported me personally and professionally for years - some of whom have become close personal friends. There are days that are shitty. I get a wave of “impostor syndrome” or think way too far ahead or just get into my own head. I concern myself too much with haters, competitors and bring myself down. It's rare, but it happens. But those euphoric moments. The inbound email from a brand I’ve been dying to work with. A client telling me they’re so excited to see their brand out in the wild. A meeting that goes incredibly well. When someone tweets - "I need a billboard" and 15 people respond with "Quan." Those moments far outweigh the shitty ones. I’m still learning as I go. I’ll continue to surround myself with people who make me better, and compliment my flaws with their talents. Our team is getting larger, we’re building something special, and I’m truly excited for what’s ahead. To any client who has given us a shot - whether it was just one campaign, or we’re working together consistently. I cannot thank you enough. I never forget. To our media partners. I get feisty. I send emails on Sundays. You’ve dealt with it all and played a major role in our growth. Having said all of that…. Here are 5 things I’ve learned in 5 years of Quan - 💡 Your network is everything. Build it, cultivate it, do right by others and don’t expect anything in return. It’ll happen organically. 💡 Give everyone 15 minutes. You never know when it’ll pay off. 💡 Don’t be afraid to hire friends and family. Often times you hear the opposite. It can work. 💡 Find the right hidden gems - a strong back office, an amazing lawyer , a great PR team, proper IT help. They will play into your success more than you know. 💡 Have short-term memory. Celebrate the highs. Get pissed at the lows. Move on. Don’t dwell. My Insta Story Post 5 years ago today 😀 #work #life #career #advertising #marketing
