Nonprofit comms leader, brand strategist, writer, team-builder

As of last week I am no longer with Share Our Strength. My position was eliminated as part of a large round of layoffs. It was an unpleasant shock, for sure - but I had a good run and I'm feeling hyped about doing something new. If you have any advice, connections or opportunities to offer, I'd be grateful! I'm most interested in a senior-level brand / creative / comms position at a nonprofit (DC-based or remote) that's focused on an issue I care about - labor, poverty, economics, social justice, tech policy; preferably something that comforts the afflicted and/or afflicts the comfortable. If my severance runs out and I have to paint houses, that'll be okay, but I'm hoping to find someplace where the things I'm good at can be of use. Luckily I am highly skilled, brilliant and delightful to work with.

To be clear, if you hire Brian Minter to paint your house, he’s going to give you a glorious storyboard to walk you through the experience, a well-researched personal narrative that your house brand and brand story will convey, and will make you and everyone who passes your newly painted house feel connected and committed to not only your color choice but to you as a human being. Brian, you are marvelously talented. My network is your network and I can’t wait to enthusiastically celebrate whatever organization is lucky enough to get you on board.

And somehow "highly skilled, brilliant, and delightful to work with" doesn't even go far enough in describing The Minter Effect - if they gave out gold medals for Brand Leader, Visionary Thinker or even just Awesome At Job Guy, you'd have a shelf-ful. Selfishly hoping you end up somewhere in child care so we can team up again soon.

This sucks but you are AMAZING and someone better grab you up quick if they know what's good for them

I'm so sorry to hear about this, Brian! We have a couple of marketing positions open at Defenders of Wildlife: https://defenders.org/about/jobs Let me know if either is of interest! I thought we also had a VP of Comms position open but I'm not sure what the status is on that one...
