Finding a job right now is tougher than wrestling a grizzly bear, making it the most challenging landscape I've witnessed in my 15-year recruiting career. Picture this - candidates nervously anticipating responses, hiring managers burdened with piles of applications, and everyone else involved grappling with their roles during these high-stress times. But imagine the impact of a genuine smile, a kind word, or a thoughtful message in this situation. It could potentially transform a challenging day into a memorable one, maybe even change a person's trajectory based on that singular interaction. So here's the challenge. Let's bring our full hearts to this rodeo. Let's sprinkle our conversations with more empathy, more understanding, and more kindness. Because in this wild job market, a bit of humanity could be the game-changer. Ready to make a difference?
Brand-Brand-Brand, & Brand! 😀
Brian Fink thanks for this post! I see fellow writers on here every week who are struggling and are at the end of their ropes mentally and financially. And then there’s the added factor of reading about promotions and new job postings where you want to be happy for others, but it also hurts. #kindnesscostsnothing
Didn’t know I could wrestle a grizzly bear
Makes sense!
Brian Fink How often do you think Hiring Managers within TA are on LinkedIn? Once a Recruiting role opens up, internal word of mouth shuts down that req almost immediately. Never really giving Recruiters on this platform a chance. Or how about the 2,000 applicants Recruiters have to compete with on a LinkedIn Job Posting, how’d ya like to be the 2,001st applicant on Day 3 of the opening? 🤷♂️
100% agree. It has been so tough to get an interview the last few months, having to wait and wait and finally got an interview schedule for a job next week. Now to see what happens.
Heck, more than empathy: sympathy. Because hasn't nearly everyone had to seek employment before?
15 years that's wild, do you feel its only tied to the lack of current openings? Inflation and other markers and the US economy overall have improved though.
It’s tough out there. I’ve been actively searching since 4/1, and I just had to take something I’m overqualified for.

4wI think I might rather wrestle the bear... no one told me a bear was an option.
