(Read more here and in data center science) https://lnkd.in/d7e2y-j Because it is as many plus the God knows how many times it has changed in any Data Center. – Different names for almost same roles with more or less same functions may exist. – Same names for totally different roles with totally different functions may exist. •Example : Data center manager, Data center node manager, director of operations, Facility manager, director data center, VP of operations, director datacenter engineering and operation – Roles names may vary depending on the region (Canada, US, Europe, Middle East) – Possible factors involved in creating organizational charts . • Budget • Size of organization • Number of data centers • Available professionals in the region • Business objectives • Strategic management systems and requirements • Type of data center (purpose build, COLO) • Services and SLAs with specific customers

Lack of a Dedicated Project Manager: Assigning a dedicated data center migration project manager is essential. Data Center Tier Levels The data center Tier levels are: Tier I A Tier I data center is the basic capacity level with infrastructure to support information technology for an office setting and beyond. The requirements for a Tier I facility include: An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for power sags, outages, and spikes. An area for IT systems. Dedicated cooling equipment that runs outside office hours. An engine generator for power outages. Tier I protects against disruptions from human error, but not unexpected failure or outage. Redundant equipment includes chillers, pumps, UPS modules, and engine generators. The facility will have to shut down completely for preventive maintenance and repairs, and failure to do so increases the risk of unplanned disruptions and severe consequences from system failure. https://lnkd.in/gijjRCRi

Yesterday I had a conversation with a Senior Leader within one of the largest Data Centre Developer/Operators globally. We talked about the seemingly never-ending growth that we are seeing at the moment with salaries and packages for Project Management professionals within the Data Centre space 🛠️📈🤔 We are certainly seeing more lower level engineering candidates wanting to move into the projects sphere. On the flip side though we are finding more and more PMs already in the industry that have such a high workload they are struggling to stay on top of it. It's a delicate balance but possibly shows why salaries and packages are increasing so fast - especially across Europe. 👀 I'd be interested to hear from PMs out there - have you felt changes over the last few years in terms of workload and expectations? 👀 The growth of projects coming up is certainly not slowing down.
