Overcoming the Fear of Failure in Entrepreneurship 🚀 1/ Failure is simply success upside down. Every Entrepreneur I have met has battled the Fear of failure. Feeling afraid? Press on! Courage is the ability to act in spite of the fear. 2/ Your set back is a setup for progress. Every entrepreneur has faced setbacks. The important thing here is to learn from these experiences. Failure teaches resilience, adaptability, and perseverance. 3/ Any Guru giving you the impression he got it right the first time must thoroughly dislike you. Let’s debunk the myth: everyone fails. Even the most successful entrepreneurs have a history of failures. Life's not about avoiding failure, but about learning to deal with it. 4/ Life itself is a Risk. Getting out of bed is a risk. Not doing ANYTHING is an even greater risk. Embrace risk-taking. Without risks, there are no rewards. Successful entrepreneurs don’t shy away from risks. Make your calculations and embrace them. 5/ Don't play the Ostrich. Analyze and learn. Faced with failure? dissect what went wrong and find ways to fix it. How To Be Successful as an Entrepreneur? 👇 1. Compound yourself : Compounding is magic. Look for it everywhere. Exponential curves are the key to wealth generation. 2. Have almost too much self-belief : Self-belief is immensely powerful. The most successful people believe in themselves almost to the point of delusion. 3. Learn to think independently : Entrepreneurship is very difficult to teach because original thinking is very difficult to teach. School is not set up to teach this—in fact, it generally rewards the opposite. So you have to cultivate it on your own. 4. Get good at “sales” : Self-belief alone is not sufficient—you also have to be able to convince other people of what you believe. 5. Make it easy to take risks : Most people overestimate risk and underestimate reward. Taking risks is important because it’s impossible to be right all the time—you have to try many things and adapt quickly as you learn more. 6. Focus : Focus is a force multiplier on work. Once you have figured out what to do, be unstoppable about getting your small handful of priorities accomplished quickly. 7. Work hard : You can get to about the 90th percentile in your field by working either smart or hard, which is still a great accomplishment. But getting to the 99th percentile requires both. 8. Be bold : It’s easier to do a hard startup than an easy startup. People want to be part of something exciting and feel that their work matters. 9. Be willful : A big secret is that you can bend the world to your will a surprising percentage of the time—most people don’t even try, and just accept that things are the way that they are. 10. Be hard to compete with : Most people understand that companies are more valuable if they are difficult to compete with. THE ENTREPRENEUR DILEMMA.. Entrepreneurs are created at birth. And they are developed through life. But it’s hard to be an entrepreneur when society forces you into the school system. For me, I was a failure in school. I was alienated by many because I graduated last in class. When I started at a local community college, I was sneered at by many people. And even when I took remedial classes, I felt like I was dumb. School had proof that I didn’t have what it took to be successful—and I was starting to believe it. My job situation also validated my failures. Whether I got fired or was forced out by a toxic culture, I didn’t fit anywhere. Even after working 40 different jobs in various industries made me feel I wasn’t “good” enough. Then I realized something. I was born to be an entrepreneur! If you’re like me, you’ve probably realized that everyone talks about the difficulty of starting a business. But for me, it came naturally. Here’s what I discovered.. Entrepreneurship is hard, but working a toxic job is harder. That’s right. It’s an uphill battle to start a business. I’ve created over a dozen different businesses and all of them took over a year to fully develop. Yet, what I learned is that I’d rather work 100 hours a week for the rest of my life than to work 50 hours per week to wait for a paycheck. Even if the job paid me an unlimited salary… It’s just not in my DNA to have a job. Entrepreneurship is not about the money. Although it can be lucrative to be in business, it’s more about.. - The connection I make with others. - The freedom to do what I enjoy. - The ability to express my character. - The chance to make a global impact. I value these things far more than money. It was something I was always meant to do. And my desire to serve others was always naturally there. You see, I didn’t really choose entrepreneurship. Instead, entrepreneurship chose me! But it all starts with your motives. Because when you have the right intentions, then you’ll be headed into the right directions. Before we get stuck into this, let me be really clear: You can't make a career out of failure! That simply doesn't work. However there are very helpful lessons to be learnt from failure. The main one is, because failure hurts like hell, you make sure you never have to be there again. That's the most valuable lesson failure can deliver. "Failure" seems to be getting a great deal of coverage at the moment. But I only think that's in any way justified if it's followed pretty quickly by success. And the deeper the initial failure, then the expectation should be, the higher the subsequent success. To succeed as an entrepreneur, you must be 3 things. 1. You must be a self-starter: You must be the type who gets up in the morning, raining or shining, and show up at work. If you are the type that needs to gain motivation from others, or need others to pull you along, entrepreneurship is NOT for you. 2. You must enjoy making tough decisions: You must enjoy the thinking process, creating pros and cons table, doing research, talking to others, and ultimately committing to the decision. If you are the type that likes to sit think, consider and sit on the fence as long as possible, entrepreneurship is NOT for you. 3. You must be OK doing tough things: You must be comfortable having tough chats, telling someone to perform or they will need to go. Telling employees that you will need to cut cost to survive. All My Life, I’ve Sought The Formula For What Makes A Good Small Business Successful   As a child, I watched my family—most of whose members were entrepreneurs—weather the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.   Some made it big. Some crashed and burned.   Pretty much everyone did a little of both.   It became my lifelong obsession to understand why.   The short video I’ve included below tells you more about what I discovered after getting a ton of degrees, launching tons of small businesses, and finding my own success.   The snapshot is this:   Expect to fail.   I know that sounds paradoxical but it’s the only consistent factor I’ve found that plays out again and again.   The entrepreneurs that go into their venture expecting to be fabulously successful almost always bottom out.   They’re not prepared for what really happens out there.    Whereas the ones who plunge into their ventures like mercenary troops inserted into a war zone, prepared to die for the cause …    Well, a lot more of those do better in the aggregate.   I know that a lot of you reading this are entrepreneurs.   I’m curious to hear your thoughts on what I’ve just said.   I’m not trying to be controversial, I’m just telling you what I’ve seen over and over again.   What has your experience been?
