Dove into Ethan Suplee's Instagram and found the secret to radical change: His words: "I can choose one of two perspectives: 1) Shame will keep me from beginning because 1 want success before I admit to myself and others that I need help. 2) Everything I am hiding, from myself and others, is already known. Those who will help, will do so with empathy. Shame cannot get in my way." 1) The misery is chronic. 2) I can trade acute discomfort for chronic misery and will exert less total effort." (Summarized) Shame keeps us stuck, grace enables change. Everytime I've tried to make a change in my life that was driven by shame, it was temporary. Sharing this because I want to remember it. 👨🏫
Wow. What a transformation! I wonder how much weight he can curl?!

It’s important not to shame yourself for feeling shame. The way to deal with shame is not to deny or stuff it. Rather you need to find someone you trust to share it with, and bring it into the light. The more you can openly express your shame, the less it will have a hold on you.
Yep... shame, anger, or really any negative emotion can light the fire and get you started...but if you're going to see the process through (specifically for something like lasting lifestyle/health changes) is the passion and joy of feeling great that will pull you through. Seen this many times myself.
This --> "Those who will help, will do so with empathy [therefore] Shame cannot get in my way." Reminds me of what Mr. Rogers' mom taught him: "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
Wow, that line near the end was powerful. Thanks for sharing, this is awesome. "Everytime I've tried to make a change in my life that was driven by shame, it was temporary."
Always been a fan of him. Heavy or not.
WOE. Had no idea about this transformation. Love these insights.
Powerful words, Brexton. Overcoming shame is definitely a game-changer. How are you implementing this in your daily life?
