Just thinking out loud, 'we' have mentioned, talked and discussed about MicroManagers and how bad it is for an organisation from an employees point of view. Just thinking abit deeper, that all training courses for management should highlight scenarios of why this type of management and any other type of adverse management would sniffle growth and retention of employees etc. After the micromanaging course or training, a quick chat with HR on what would happen should take place and some targets in place would further cement that the course or training was worthwhile and not a nodding exercise. Senior Management Team may just get the right answers then the general tick box exercise that normally occurs or a dismissal of a manager showing that they do not tolerate this type of management. Let me know your thinking and whether HR involvement would be a step in the right direction. #training #micromanagement #organisationaldevelopment #hr #humanresourcesmanagement

Although my experience in HR is limited to my Human Resource Management course with UCD Professional Academy, I consider it an exceptional journey of personal and professional growth. Throughout this course, I have had the privilege of delving into the critical aspects of HRM, including the significance of strong leadership and guiding team members towards success. While my practical experience in the field may be limited to this course, I'm genuinely excited about the prospect of applying these invaluable tools and skills in real-world situations. I've already been able to apply the skills I've learned from this course to situations in roles unrelated to HR, which is truly remarkable in itself! HRM isn't just about policies and procedures; it's about fostering a positive workplace culture, nurturing talent, and leading teams to achieve their best. I believe these principles are the foundation of any successful organisation, and I'm committed to making a positive impact in the future. 😄 🤝 #HRM #LearningAndGrowth #FutureLeadership #TalentAcquisition #TeamGuidance #HR #ExcitingJourney

The Harvard Framework, also known as the Harvard Model, is a strategic approach to HRM developed by the Harvard Business School in the 1980s. It provides a comprehensive perspective on managing people within organizations and emphasizes the importance of aligning HR practices with an organization's overall strategic objectives. Here are the key components of the Harvard Framework for HRM: 1️⃣ Stakeholder interests: This component highlights the significance of considering the interests of various stakeholders, including employees, managers, shareholders, customers, and the society at large. Recognizing these diverse interests is crucial for effective HRM decision-making. 2️⃣ Situational factors: The Harvard Model emphasizes the impact of external and internal factors on HRM. External factors may include the industry, economic conditions, and legal/regulatory environment, while internal factors encompass an organization's structure, culture, and resources. Understanding these factors helps HR professionals tailor their practices accordingly. 3️⃣ HRM policy choices: This component focuses on the design and implementation of HR policies and practices. The Harvard Framework suggests that HR policies should be internally aligned (consistent with one another) and externally aligned (in line with the organization's strategy and external environment). 4️⃣ HR outcomes: The Harvard Model identifies four HR outcomes: commitment, competence, congruence, and cost effectiveness. These outcomes reflect the desired results of effective HRM practices, including high employee commitment, enhanced skills and capabilities, alignment between individual and organizational goals, and cost-efficient HR operations. 5️⃣ Long-term consequences: According to the Harvard Framework, effective HR practices lead to positive long-term consequences for both the organization and its stakeholders. These consequences may include improved performance, increased employee satisfaction, and enhanced organizational reputation. The Harvard Framework for HRM provides a holistic and strategic approach to managing human resources, considering the broader organizational context and the impact on various stakeholders. As HR professionals, it's important for us to continually explore and adopt frameworks like the Harvard Model to enhance our understanding and practice of HRM. #HRM #HumanResources #HarvardFramework #StrategicHRM #Management #OrganizationalEffectiveness

This article is spot on. The 2 metrics discussed drive so much more than high performance and strong succession and in my view that’s why they matter most.
