This session was awesome thanks to the diverse and high accomplished people in the room. Success in life is about balance and to accomplish big things you need to focus but when you focus, you start to lose your peripheral vision and get more and more tunnel vision. Then the world around you changes ... The purpose of the Bend the Vector event is to reopen the peripheral vision and make sure we are working on the most important problems in the most effective and efficient ways. If we want to seriously "Bend the Vector" of progress for the most important challenges we face (which is our goal where make money falls clearly behind this higher mission), we need to get feedback from perceptive people around us (like Paul English) and listen very carefully. The pace of change in the world is continually accelerating and entrepreneurs must understand that change and change with it. This can only happen if we truly listen - and listening is the willingness to change your mind (Thank you Dave Morris). Feedback is the breakfast of champions. Thanks to all who came out and gave us their perspective. Together we will Bend the Vector!

We wrapped up two modules of the Behavioral Science Master's program with a formative assignment that addressed Decision Making Science through a decision-making framework, applied to a real life decision we are facing. My favorite part (oversimplified, of course): process beats outcomes. If there's one thing I came in armed with to begin with, it's this. In terms of the relationship to behavioral science, it's extremely eye-opening to see clearly mapped on paper just how much impact emotions and 'what we want' have on 'what we need to do'. My questions were all validated, as questions. There are no 'right' answers, and EVERYTHING is contexual - but, going through an iterative process will time and again shed light on what's next. Also, group work is VERY different when not in a corporate setting. And yes, that's a picture of me on the screen - because this group of incredible 'decision buddies' chose my real-life problem and contributed objectively and methodologically to my decision making.
