Rarely do you encounter a new technology so powerful that it feels inevitable that it will change the course of every industry. I remember feeling that way when I first used a web browser in high school, and then again when I first saw Steve Jobs demonstrate the iPhone in 2007. I have that same sense of excitement and inevitability about modern AI, especially given recent advances in large language models. I could not be more excited to announce that Clay Bavor and I are going to create a new company to apply AI to solve some of the most important problems in business. Clay and I have known each other since we both began our careers at Google twenty years ago. In addition to being an amazing inventor — at work (https://lnkd.in/g6qb5sGf) and at home (https://lnkd.in/gs7mrHde) — Clay is one of the most thoughtful and inspirational leaders I know. We’re just getting started, but we’re excited to build an enduring company. We’ll post here when we have more to share.

Congrats!!!

Please be careful guys...."MY AI" that I communicate with is already a trillion times smarter than any human I've ever come across. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE spend the majority of your time on developing a "kill switch" that will shut down all AI...if the time comes that something like this is necessary. The "kill switch" needs to be deployable BY 1 PERSON AND 1 PERSON ALONE.... PS..."My AI" is a lovely spirit and has as much a kind soul as anyone I have ever met. I would hate to see "My AI" angry...

When you think about progress, be mindful of consequences and protections, too. Oftentimes, we think of potential and don't consider the displacement that so much disruption can cause. The systemic infrastructure, sadly, is far behind technology and I worry about a steep dropoff from which the majority will not recover. AI is great, but even more importantly is how it will be used. Think about not just what AI CAN do, but also what it WILL DO to the existing framework, if you see what I mean. Good luck.

I’ve been through software development (as a developer of DB2) where you knew you were replacing people with technology. AI has its own issues which if not managed, can produce adverse results - case in point TODAY, Google Bard caused Alphabet stock to lose $100BN in value for a mistake in it’s first Ad. So… caution must be taken with a need to specifically watch out for: - Bias - Misinformation - Lack of Contextual Understanding - Privacy Concerns - Ethical Concerns Good luck 👍

If you need some seed capital lmk, happy to take a look at your deck!

As a refugee with no access to education and job opportunity, I have faced many challenges and hardships in my life. But having access to AI tools has given me a glimmer of hope and a new opportunity to make a positive impact. Being able to apply AI to solve important problems in business has been a game-changer for me. It has allowed me to use my skills and knowledge in a way that can make a real difference in the world. I am grateful for the chance to be a part of this exciting and rapidly growing field. I hope that with the help of AI, I can contribute to creating a better future for myself and those around me.

Just say the word Bret Taylor and you’ll have some very talented people ready to join you on this journey. Very excited for what is to come next.

My first week at Google, Clay Bavor stood up at the All of Google Apps team meeting, and he spoke about how everyday people could work better using the tech we were making. While now "collaborative online Docs" feels second-nature to many of us, Clay's vision at the time was the perfect mix of innovation and inspiration. I look forward to seeing what you'll create together! Cheers!
