The Texas Water Safari is a 265-mile race from San Marcos to the Texas coast. It was a hell of an adventure —four days with no sleep, hallucinations, alligators, almost drowning, alligator gar jumping in the boat—a full-on freak show. I made it to mile marker 250 where I got stuffed in an ambulance and treated for rhabdomyolysis. My partner Forrest pressed on for the last 15 miles, fell asleep a couple hundred yards from the finish line, lost the boat, and was rescued by a shrimp boat in the bay. As our boat name says—MAMA TRIED. Thank you to my teammate Forrest, and our incredible team captains Mark Mariano and Aaron Heth who stayed up for days on end and always had a smile. Thanks to all the family and friends who showed up and supported us along the way—it was so appreciated. We started this race as the hammer and ended as the nail. Grateful to feel both sides of the coin. #TexasWaterSafari #Team #Grateful
