Amid lots of talk about the potential of #AI, and particularly about #genAI, in industry at #DES2024 in Malaga today -- and a healthy dose of discussion about regulation and 'culture' -- there was a telling anecdote from Linghan Zhang, a member of the United Nations' advisory board on AI (appearing on a brilliant UN panel), that when the UN's band of AI 'experts' met recently to devise an action plan about the kind of utopia / dystopia that AI will unleash, ALL the male experts elected to organise around the opportunities of AI, and ALL the female experts chose to deal with the challenges of it. If there is to be a single-sex school-of-thought about how to manage AI, I'd rather women were in charge on both counts.

Breaking Gender Biases: A Futuristic Experiment   💐 On this International Women’s Day, the NTU International A/S implemented project (Strategy Communication Services for the EU Delegation in Paraguay) is excited to share an eye-opening campaign: “El Sesgo Permanece” (The Bias Remains). 🔍 The Experiment: Using AI and predictive algorithms, the campaign generated portraits of people in 2050. The shocking result? Almost all faces were male! 😲 🤔 Why does it matter? Our current data and models are biased, shaping the future we envision.
