Misrepresentation of Christianity in the Crusades The Crusades, spanning from the late 11th to the late 13th centuries, resulted in the staggering loss of countless lives, often marked by indiscriminate massacres and brutal violence. The capture of Jerusalem in 1099, for instance, saw Crusaders slaughtering men, women, and children without mercy, leading to a bloodbath that defied the teachings of Christ. Jewish communities in the Rhineland were similarly decimated, with Crusaders perpetrating mass killings and forced conversions. This widespread loss of life was further compounded by events such as the sacking of Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade, where Christian turned against Christian in a display of greed and betrayal. These tragic episodes underscore the profound misrepresentation of Christianity, as the sanctity of human life was flagrantly disregarded in the pursuit of political and territorial gains. #swindonchurch #brendonnaicker #theologyschool #crusade https://lnkd.in/e72ZfNTE

The Christian church in Priene, Turkey, during the 13th century, was part of the Byzantine Empire's religious landscape, which was predominantly Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Priene itself is an ancient Greek city located near the modern town of Güllübahçe in Turkey. By the 13th century, this region had experienced a multitude of changes due to the ebb and flow of Byzantine and Seljuk Turkish control. In the 13th century, the Byzantine Empire was in a period of decline and fragmentation, especially after the Fourth Crusade (1202-1204), which led to the temporary fall of Constantinople and the establishment of the Latin Empire. This period saw the Byzantine Empire losing significant territories and influence, with various regions coming under the control of Latin Crusader states, the Venetian Republic, and the Seljuk Turks, among others. Priene, like many other regions, would have been influenced by these geopolitical shifts. The Christian church in this area, therefore, would have been influenced by the broader ecclesiastical and political challenges of the time. The Eastern Orthodox Church, central to Byzantine Christian identity, faced challenges not only from the political and military pressures of the era but also from the Latin Church, with which it had theological and jurisdictional disputes. Christianity is not a political ideology or an “ism”. Nevertheless, the faithful living together and sharing all their goods seeded a definition of their communal structure. Modern Christian societies in Europe, and to a smaller degree in the Americas, have this Christian consciousness in their social-political systems. Yes, the vast wilderness of the Americas has been a poor soil for the growth of this communal ethos. “Born-again” Christians in America would still find it hard to accept that this alien, socialistic idea came from the Power of Light {Lord Jesus Christ} and not the Power of Darkness {Satan, the Devil}. Focus on reading and discussing Chapters 2 and 4 of The Book of Acts as a way of appreciating the foundation of our Christian heritage.See:

If you happen to be an American Christian, a must read article, balanced and nuanced. The teachings of Jesus Christ, emphasize principles like justice, compassion, and the sanctity of all human life. These principles should not just be slogans but lived values that inform how Christians engage with the world, including complex geopolitical issues like the Israel-Palestine conflict. It’s not merely about choosing sides but about striving for a fair and just solution that respects the dignity and rights of all individuals involved. https://lnkd.in/dS4SbaVQ

The very first stage of making wrongs right is acknowledging the wrongs, only then can identifying the wrongs and effecting the corrections be possible. The emergence of the hierarchical system, through the clergy/laity distinction apparently has fractured the priesthood of all believers and made it easy for different clergy members to divide along theological leaning causing people to gather and form communities around their most favored leader (or doctrine) instead of Jesus Christ alone. Click the link below to learn more on how Christians' digression from seeing themselves as being part of One Body (Church) to a countless number of sects, and other reasons, are causing the Church of Jesus Christ to regress rather than progress from her earliest practices of organic church formation as expressed in the New Testament. https://lnkd.in/dvgXGse9

A bit of history of Christian Zionism that leads to the creation of Israel in 1948 by UK who is the colonial master of Palestine at that time. How The Rothschilds funded Scofield to twist the Bible & create Christian Zionism Fundamentalism was infiltrated and hijacked, consistent with the Rothschild strategy of funding both sides of wars. Fundamentalist churches were targeted to enlist their support for the Zionist agenda. The two principal agents in this scheme were John Nelson Darby (1800-1882) and Cyrus Scofield (1843-1921). What Darby planted, Scofield watered and disseminated. The theology they developed served the agenda by making these claims: • God wanted the Jews to return to, and take over, Palestine. • God has two plans of salvation—one through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the other a guarantee reserved for Jews, his “Chosen People.” • The Christian Church is doomed to inevitable failure, which will bring the Dispensation of Grace to a close. • The end of this dispensational age will be marked by the Tribulation—worldwide persecution under the Antichrist for a period of seven years; however, Christians need not concern themselves with this, since Jesus will “Rapture” believers off the Earth and they won’t be around to experience it. • Earth will then experience a Jewish era; Jewish ritualistic animal sacrifices will be reinstituted; Jesus will reign for a thousand years from Solomon’s rebuilt temple in Jerusalem. Without these ideas being sweepingly disseminated, there might have been no Israeli state created in 1948, no 9/11, and no Middle East wars.

The Gospel for this Sunday is an excerpt from Jesus’s lengthy prayer just prior his death asking the Father for three precious gifts for the church: that its members always remain united, that they stand fast against the world’s hatred of them, and that they be conscious of being sent by Christ as heralds of the gospel. A report card on how Christians through the ages have heeded our Lord’s prayer might not have any clear A’s, but perhaps a few B’s and lots of Cs. Unifying love . In the first century the church stayed united despite major division regarding the extent to which non-Jewish followers of Jesus had to adopt Jewish practices. The synod of Jerusalem deserves great credit for uniting the factions, and in the following centuries councils and church leaders succeeded in achieving clarity on potentially divisive doctrines. From the ninth centuries onward, however, the two great sees of Rome and Constantinople gradually grew apart, the final breach coming in 1054. The sixteenth century Protestant Reformation led to the further breakup of Christian unity and to the founding of churches sometimes at war with each other. Disunion continues today on the local level, but nationally and internationally, fortunately, cooperation continues. Standing Fast against the World’s Hatred. Inevitably, Christians took their place among the shapers of modern society, especially in Europe and the Americas. Many people, however, took on the habits and customs of the powerful, so that it was sometimes difficult to see how so-called Christian leaders differed from non-Christian leaders in leading the way in peacemaking, care for the poor, and personal morality. May we be conscious of Christ’s example and command as we live our lives and plan our futures. Read the full reflection: https://lnkd.in/eNn9sGrJ

#ChristianNationalism believe that "laws should be based on #ChristianValues. Being a #Christian is important if you want to be a #RealAmerican" acording to Laura Barrón-López's PBS article: https://lnkd.in/ekBPSQC3. I do believe that #USA was founded with #ChristianValues in addition to #RacistValues. The problem is that #ChristianNationalist don't #WalkLikeChrist. #WhitePeople aren't even the the NATIVES / #IndigenousInhabitants; #NativeAmericans / #IndigenousInhabitants. Here is a passage: #1Corinthians 1: 21- For since, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe. Just read all of #Acts6. It's short.

Exciting news! Introducing my newest book "A Reaction to Messianic Missionaries". It is available in paperback, as an e-book on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and in hardcover at Barnes & Noble. "A compelling re-examination of the missionary/counter-missionary drama. Appalled by the nefarious tactics of Christian missionaries disguised as Jews, Rabbanit Simani pens a personal letter to those misled by their wiles. In the process, she takes the offensive and meets the “Jews for Jesus” organization head-on. “A Reaction to Messianic Missionaries” peers deep into the characters and sources for both Jewish and Christian Messianic claims. In Part I, “Wolves in sheep’s clothing”, Rabbanit Simani introduces the reader to recent events that prompted writing “A Reaction to Messianic Missionaries” and an explanation of the development of the “Messianic Jewish” movement. She proceeds to examine their so-called “Isaiah 53 Campaign” – a well-funded, aggressive effort targeting Jews with misinformation with the expressed goal of converting as many as possible to their camouflaged form of Christianity. To this, the rabbanit gives clear, rational, evidence-based counter-arguments. Part II, “How we got where we are”, outlines the diverging and conflicting historical paths of the intriguing development of Judaism and Christianity. Rabbanit Simani weaves a fascinating tapestry with hues from the faith of Abraham to the Yeshivoth of Hillel and Shammai and from the dark, primal mysteries to the conquests of Alexander the Great. It is in Part III, “Why Jews reject Christianity”, that the rabbanit ties all strands together with her unique perspectives on why the Messianic missionaries are wrong to target Jews. Not since the Passover Plot has the public been offered such a dynamic perspective of the origins of Early Christianity. A must-read for anyone seriously interested in who was or will be the Messiah."
