Our message to the new UK government: Our vision is that by 2050 everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live and be supported to live well. We’re looking forward to working with the new UK government and setting out what they must do over the next 5 years to improve the lives of people affected by breast cancer. We’ll be working hard to achieve our vision and championing our priorities with MPs. We’ll campaign to ensure breast cancer is diagnosed early and fast, that new and effective treatments are developed and delivered, and to improve care and support for secondary breast cancer. From getting your MP to do their bit, to adding your voice to our calls on government – your support is vital. Together we can ensure the new government takes real action for people affected by breast cancer. Sign up for our campaign updates to find out how you can help. https://lnkd.in/ecFYDXYM

Every October we remember the lives of our loved ones lost to breast cancer and the struggles of those who are living with it. #Pinktober is focused on spreading awareness about breast cancer and access to resources to support people living with cancer. In 2018, FWRM published a report titled "Breaking the Barriers: Understanding Cancer Services, Screening and Treatment Available for Women in Fiji" that found that breast and the cervix are the two common registered cancers in the Fiji cancer registry; making up 30 per cent of cancers listed. The report also found that that many women are still presenting themselves very late with stage three cervical and breast cancer which the oncology unit cannot provide effective treatment for. Palliative care can only be provided to women at this stage. The report is available here: https://lnkd.in/eRCs9esW In solidarity with victims and survivors of breast cancer and all other types of cancer. #pinktober #breastcancer #pinkribbon #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth

Lung cancer is by far the leading cause of cancer death. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined. While we often think of lung cancer as a disease that only impacts people who smoke, we need to realize that anyone can be diagnosed with it. Nitisha Moore is one such person. She is not a smoker and is not around people who smoke. Lung cancer does not run in her family. Yet, as a young mom, she was diagnosed with the disease. This is her story. You can learn more about lung cancer at cancer.org/lungcancer. To better understand which cancer screenings are right for you, visit cancer.org/getscreened.
