I worked for almost 10 years for the Golf department at a private country club which were some of the best 10 years of my life from 2006-2016. The relationships I formed and the life lessons I’ve learned, have shaped me to who I am today and I’m forever grateful for those experiences. I mentioned this because I’d love to be playing in this tournament tomorrow, but I’m not but I’m hopeful for next year. As a #RareCancer survivor myself, I credit my cure to the therapy that actually eradicated my terminal #Cancer from a single one time #AutologousCellTherapy using my own #TIL or #TumorInfiltratingLymphoyctes. These type of novel #AdvancedCellTherapies which use a patient’s own specific cells to fight back the ones that go rogue and mutate, not only saved my life, but is also the same concept that is changing the future of #RareDisease. I do not work in philanthropy or the #CGT industry specifically but I do follow this space very closely. The world of #CellTherapy is so much more than just the cure for #SolidTumors or #HematologicCancers, but also the answer to autoimmune diseases like #RheumatoidArthritis and #Diabetes as well. The data is out there with studies and clinical trials. Over the past 4 1/2 years as I’ve been navigating survivorship and recovery, finding a sense of community has been more of a challenge than I thought it would be. I’ve never been in this position before so I didn’t know what to expect but I am mission focused. Instead of being disease focused, I have concentrated my efforts on treatment and therapy focused spaces which has led me to connect with the Emily Whitehead Foundation. As a needle in a haystack, it’s tough to find other needles and with so few, sometimes they are hard to find. Waiting too long for treatment increases the risks of dying from cancer. We will use every penny raised to campaign to get cancer patients treated on time and improve their chances of being cured and living longer, better. Your donation makes the difference. Thanks to our supporters, in the past year our work has: - Been the first to raise concerns about the lack of ambition for cancer patients in the reduction in NHS cancer targets - Brought cancer waiting times for treatment into the heart of Parliament, providing each and every MP with details of how long their constituents have to wait to get life-saving cancer treatment - Launched a series of reports and analysis that call out the current cancer crisis in the UK, highlight the need for urgent change to improve patient survival rates, spotlight how the UK is falling behind in radiotherapy treatment compared to similar countries, and offer practical solutions We are tiny but determined to keep holding govts to account and speaking up for the 4 in 10 cancer patients waiting too long for life-saving treatment this Christmas. 162,000 people per year are diagnosed with some form of cancer. That’s why this July I will be running 162km in the hope to raise money for various cancer charities. I have started to strategise: How many Km’s per day do I want to run? How many days a week & what rest days do I take? What if I get injured throughout? We’re always looking for an opportunity for my boys to learn empathy we decided that we would donate his hair to someone. Resaerching away, Alopecia Australia came up in the search and we’re like mint… lets do that but under the search it had the worlds greatest shave further investigation was a must. We clicked on the link and said lets do that mate and raise some money for humans that really need it to help others. What an opportunity to create core memories around doing things in the service of others which can demonstrate the joy and fulfilment he can and will receive. Noah was quite hesitant around the idea so we watched YouTube videos of others raising funds for the Leukaemia foundation. In one video a beautiful year 12 student told her principal that she would raise $20k for the Worlds greatest shave!!! The Principals response was if you raise $20k I’ll shave mine with you.
