🚀 Semester 3 of Sports Business Management has started, and that means we need to recap Semester 2! So much happened, so much was learned, so much was experienced. I’m gonna be coming hard and fast with some life updates over the coming days, so keep your eyes peeled. 👀 Sports Analytics was taught by Tony Fisher, who brought us current with the abilities of using data in sports with the ever-expanding goal to make more informed decisions. We studied and implemented descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. I am excited to utilize these skills as hard data continues to take over the sporting world. 📊 Sport Policy was taught by Gina Gianetto, who guided us through the complexities of sports legislation and governance. We examined many relevant and historical case studies, exploring the impact of legislative policy within the sporting world. We also drafted several policies and briefing notes in response to a variety of scenarios. 📜 Ed Blomeley used his wealth of experience to teach us sport economics. I gained an improved understanding of the economic impacts sports have on micro and macro levels, enriching my perspective on financial decision-making. 💹 Nicole Clarke taught us major games and bid planning. This class was a real highlight, offering a real-world glimpse into the preparation and bidding processes for major sports events. 🌍 Our final project was to create a new Badminton Canada bid process for their events going forward. More on that later! Sport marketing, taught by the engaging Stephen Jardeleza, unleashed my creative side, teaching me innovative ways to develop marketing plans that speak to the client and connect them more personally to their clientele through telling engrossing stories. 📈 Side note: if you are looking to improve your golf swing, and are worried about the physical impact of the sport on your body, there is no better teacher in Ottawa than Dawn Turner. ⛳ Finally, we produced a streamlined bid process plan that is expected to generate substantial revenue increase for Bryan Merrett, IAC at Badminton Canada. Every year the Sports Business Management Program hosts a healthy competition, whereby the students produce plans for the bidding process. This year I am excited to announce that my team were crowned the winners of this competition! Big thanks to my team: Dylan Wallace, Abbigail Verge, Kiana Manitowabi, and Liam Stewart! I couldn’t have done it without you guys. 🏆 #SportsBusinessManagement #AlgonquinCollege #SportAnalytics #SportEconomics #SportMarketing #CareerDevelopment #Sporteconomics #sportpolicy #badmintoncanada #algonquincollege
