YouTube's iOS app will soon give you a choice to either:
A) let YouTube see your activity on other apps/websites for targeted ads, or
B) deny YouTube access so you'll see less relevant ads
But there's a third option: watch YouTube in Brave to skip the ads and tracking!🦁

NoPlace is an app that has topped the Apple Store app this week and has 500,000 people on the waitlist.
It is a new social media app that is a mash of Twitter & MySpace with users being able to curate customised profile and content feed that is not driven by algorithm.
It currently has no parental control and is rated for 12+

Like any social media app I would recommend that it should be for 16+. There is always the risk of inappropriate content slipping through among many other issues.

I made a Facebook clone
I launched my first app in 2021 September….
It got like 400 users, but deleted the database so the accounts no longer exist.
It was a social media app your Typical Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. But looked more like Facebook.
I’m not an app programmer I just hired a talented developer to bring the idea to live. It’s unlisted from the Playstore now it was only available for android users btw.
What did I learn?
1. You need a lot of money to advertise to a wider audience.
2. You need to come up with something fresh, because why would people use my app when they can just use already existing apps that are more credible and far better.
3. Don’t build/ do stuff for the sake of it, it must be meaningful not because it's cool or bring a lot of money. 9/10 It becomes a total waste of time, do something you’re willing to dedicate to for the next 30 years.
Be patient-aggressive - meaning that you understand it might take time to materialize, but that doesn't mean I need to be lazy and complacent.
The guy who helped make this promo video said, “I'm going to say I worked with Weshare when it blows up”.
Heads up: Your Instagram friends can see when you’re online!
Like many social apps, from WhatsApp to Instagram, there’s a feature that shows when users are active. It’s handy for catching up but can be a bit of a privacy worry for some. Luckily, Instagram lets you control this. Turn off the activity status feature and keep your online presence under wraps.

Facebook's mobile app now includes a "Link History" setting that records every website you've visited within the last 30 days. Now accessible through the #Facebook app on iOS and Android, the setting is enabled by default but is optional.
According to reports, Facebook users are receiving an in-app pop-up that explains the link #history feature and offers them the option to turn it off. Facebook presents link history as an easy-to-use repository for all the links you've clicked recently, but in typical Meta fashion, there's a privacy catch.
Facebook adds that links clicked during Messenger chats are not included in this setting. Link history is an option that you can switch on or off at any time. The support page states, "Any links you tap inside Facebook and visit in Facebook's #MobileBrowser will be saved here for 30 days when link history is turned on.
It has been reported that when users access the Facebook #app, a pop-up for the link history setting appears. A Gizmodo report claims that the feature is promoted as a handy way to store all of your #links. "Easily get back the recent links you've visited with your Facebook browsing activity now saved in one place" is added to the in-app prompt, which says, "Never lose a link again."
But there's also the issue of privacy to consider. Facebook makes it clear that it may use the list of links you have saved to deliver you targeted #advertisements across its platforms and #technologies on both its help page for the link history toggle and the in-app pop-up.
The support page states, "Remember that when link history is enabled, we may use link history data from Facebook's #Mobile Browser to enhance your ads across Meta technologies." In effect, this makes your link history into a single, accessible interest board that Facebook can use to target #users with ads.
Facebook mobile app to open the Facebook mobile browser, then select the option to enable or disable #linkhistory. Next, choose Browser settings by tapping the three-dot menu located in the lower right corner.

Want to reduce spam in your LinkedIn inbox?
LinkedIn is finally adding the ability to reply to a blank connection request before accepting, and I'm DELIGHTED!
Do you have this feature yet?
~~~~~~
UPDATE - you have to click (see all) to view all your invitations before this shows up, at least in my version. Also, it is not currently available on my mobile app. Do you have it on mobile?
~~~~~~
When you get a blank request, you can respond with something like this:
“Thanks for the invite to connect. What led you to reach out to me today?”
I've surfaced some GREAT leads using this response to blank invitations.
If they reply, they’re probably human, as most bots and fake profiles don’t seem to be able to detect this yet.
If they respond with a pitch-slap, you can click “ignore” on the invitation and block them.
This will help free your LinkedIn inbox from spam.
What do you think? Is this a helpful feature?
