India Cricket Legend Ravi Shastri talks IPL and T20 World Cup With the IPL 2024 coming to the business end and the ICC World Cup T20 2024 looming large, T20 white ball cricket is taking centre stage. In a recent interview with Stake.com Ravi Shastri revealed his thoughts regarding all things IPL and India T20 World Cup hopes. On the IPL……. MI, SRH, KKR, CSK, and RR will make up the IPL’s top five As we approach May, several teams are already facing challenges, with four or five showing signs of dropping off. The next few days will likely clarify the top contenders, but currently, I see MI, SRH, KKR, CSK, and RR as my top five. The remaining teams will need to step up their game quickly to stay in contention. Only ‘one or two’ RCB players are performing - Kohli’s teammates can help him increase strike rate It has to be a team performance. Look at the teams at the top of the table - you’ve got 6 or 7 players performing all the time. However, when you look at RCB there is only one or two performing. In such cases, you are going to be at the bottom of the table. While Virat Kohli may be trending, being the lone ranger means playing the game according to the state of the game. When wickets fall around you, your strike rate is likely to drop. It's tempting to focus solely on individual performance, aiming for quick runs such as 60 runs for 36 balls, but that can lead to team losses. It's crucial for other players to contribute, which in turn can boost the strike rate of the player in question. Mumbai Indians captaincy saga could have been handled better The transition of the MI captaincy could have been handled better, in my opinion. While franchises have the right to choose their captain, more transparency in the decision-making process would have been beneficial. If the intention was to select Hardik Pandya for the captaincy, clear communication with Rohit Sharma about his role in supporting this transition would have been key. Recognising Rohit's immense contribution as a five-time IPL champion and involving him in the conversation could have facilitated a smoother transition. To read the full article click below...

Cricket World Cup: Rohit Sharma hammers Afghan bowlers as India win second successive recreation | Cricket-world-cup News https://ift.tt/LP2cDTz 2023-10-12 00:11:45 For all of the acclaim Rohit Sharma has obtained over his profession, the phrase ‘best’ isn’t used to explain his batting. Coming via the ranks, he was anointed the inheritor obvious to Sachin Tendulkar, a pedestal subsequently occupied by Virat Kohli. He was thought-about the very best proponent of the Mumbai faculty of batting, however didn’t show the ruthlessness and starvation that’s its attribute trait, particularly in his earlier days and particularly within the longer format. He shouldn’t be even thought-about the very best participant within the present workforce. But with regards to the 50-over World Cups, Rohit is in a league of his personal. The batsman with probably the most tons of – his seventh coming in Wednesday’s eight-wicket thrashing of Afghanistan, India’s second win in two matches within the match – he invariably shines when he will get on a roll within the 50-over format, as his three ODI double tons of would attest. Moreover, Tendulkar took 44 innings to get his six World Cup tons of over six editions. Rohit wanted simply 19 knocks over three tournaments to get to seven, with 5 coming in 2019 alone. The newest ton got here off simply 63 deliveries, the quickest for an Indian within the World Cup. Click right here to comply with all of the motion from the Cricket World Cup As far as ODIs generally are involved, along with his thirty first ton, Rohit went previous Ricky Ponting to be third on the record of batsmen with most centuries, with solely Tendulkar and Kohli above him. He additionally went previous Chris Gayle for probably the most sixes in worldwide cricket. That is a few legacy for a participant not thought-about the very best in his technology. It was his innings that made a goal of 273 seem to be a minimum of 100 too few, with the house workforce surpassing it with 15 overs to spare. As far as aesthetics are involved, there are few who’re simpler on the attention. Rohit appears to have extra time when he bats than much less mortals. But on Wednesday, it appeared as if he was batting within the highlights, such was the frequency of fours and sixes. Admittedly, the flat Kotla pitch and pleasant Afghan assault performed a component, however the 16 fours and 5 sixes spelt utter domination. During non-obligatory follow on the eve of the sport, Rohit had given a glimpse of what was in retailer for the match. The India captain, who didn’t bother the scorers within the earlier recreation in opposition to Australia, was trying in zen mode. The web bowlers confronted the brunt and a day later, it was time for the Afghan bowlers. Rohit teed off with a clip within the third over off Fazalhaq Farooqi . He reached 1,000 runs within the World Cup, the joint-fastest, with a six over extensive long-off within the subsequent over of the left-armer, whos...

ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP 2023 MATCH -15 SOUTH AFRICA VS NETHERLAND Well these two sides do have an history when they will again meet in match 15 of the icc cricket world cup . Of course most of the cricket fans do remember an 40 year old south african taking an absolute blinder to dismiss an south african and throwing his old team out of the icc t20 world cup . So there is something great to look forward to these two teams but larger the format greater is the gap between two unequal teams . STADIUM - Dharamshala ,Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association . PITCH REPORT -Usually great batting decks are offerred at this ground and with considering the height of the ground above sea level the ball tends to travel the distance . so expect a HIGH SCORE if South Africa bats first . TEAM COMBINATION - SOUTH AFRICA - Can make one possible change of bringing gerald coetze back in place of shamsi considering the fact that pitch will assist fast bowlers . NETHERLAND -Expect no change in Netherland considering the fact that they have plenty of all round options FANTASY TEAM .( FOR 7 VS 4 TEAM COMBINATION) # IF YOU CAN PICK MORE THEN 7 PLAYERS OF A TEAM THEN PICK PLAYERS FROM SOUTH AFRICA . TEMBA BAVUMA - Good pick . DE COCK - Match winner , most intimating for (capt.) RASSIE VAN - Differential pick must try . MARKRAM - Must pick , pick for (capt.) KLASSEN - Risky . But can be beneficial JANSEN - Must pick RABADA - Must pick NETHERLAND . BE LEEDE - MUST PICK GOOD FOR (VC) ACKERMAN - DIFFERENCIAL AND MUST TRY VIKRAMJEET - RISKY AS, WILL BE SINGH FACING NEW BALL NIDAMANRU - RISKY BUT DIFFERNCIAL Tips . 1.can also pick lungi ngidi in place klassen 2. expect south africa batting to do good . 3. South African new ball bowlers can be handy and will give points . First off, Pakistan's loss to the USA in the Cricket T20 World Cup is a masterclass of 'How not to play cricket'. With Babar Azam on the throne, Pakistan’s cricket strategy feels like a typical desi family function where only the favorite cousins get to hold the microphone. There is something seriously wrong with Babar’s captaincy! Can someone please tell him to stop clinging to a VHS player in the age of streaming; it’s defensive, outdated, and out of sync with the modern, aggressive cricket the world has embraced. And that overconfidence in his performance? It’s cringeworthy! He’s a great ODI batsman, but T20 and captaincy are not his cup of tea. The stardom we’ve created has turned our stars into icons of stubbornness and favoritism, effectively turning potential victories into lessons on what not to do. I mean, seriously, who plays a sweep shot when you need to hit a SIX on every ball? Hint hint, it’s our real slim Shady. However, I believe it was wrong to even send him in the first place. and how can I forget that dude Azam Khan, the Sharmeen Sehgal of the Pakistan cricket team—no one could survive such dismal performances unless they had a magical 'parchi' keeping them in the lineup. His innings are constantly like John Cena; you just can’t see them! I mean, you barely see them; they're so short and brief, it’s as if he’s playing a game of hide and seek with the scoreboard (by the way, he's not even fit to play that). Anyway, you know how Einstein defined stupidity: it's doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. It’s time for the decision-makers to stop being foolish, or at least stop trying to make us one. Reengineer this team; it’s enough now. Phew, sorry I had to vent out. Now, back to work. #PakvsUSA #t20cricket #worldcup

The 2024 IPL starts on March 22 and for many players, it will mark the beginning of more than three months of T20 cricket cumulating in June’s World Cup in the Caribbean and USA. As usual, there is strong Australian representation at the competition including some big names returning. Here are some of the things to keep an eye on from an Australian point of view. T20 World Cup push for Cameron Green, Spencer Johnson Twelve or perhaps 13 of Australia’s T20 World Cup squad are locked in. But national selector George Bailey has gone on record saying that IPL performances will be factored into the final decision-making of the spots up for grabs. Cameron Green and Spencer Johnson are at the top of the list with most to gain over the next few weeks. Green was deliberately allowed to focus on red-ball cricket ahead of the New Zealand Test series rather than playing the T20Is and the result was compelling with his 174 not out in Wellington. Part of the selectors’ thinking was they knew he would have a full IPL to work on his T20 game. “It’s a constant conversation with multi-format players, working out the priority at any given time, and making sure they get what they need but he’s certainly one whose name I think, as we are finalising that 15 for the World Cup, will be firmly in the mix,” Bailey said. If Green hits his straps for Royal Challengers Bangalore (providing he can make the XI), having been traded from Mumbai Indians, his all-round skillset will make him a compelling option. The question could be whether he covers more bases than Steven Smith. Cameron Green has been traded from Mumbai Indians to RCB•BCCI Meanwhile, Johnson currently sits behind Nathan Ellis in the pace pecking order should Australia take just the four specialist quicks. However, Johnson is doing all he can to force the selectors’ hands having had an impressive BBL before bowling with pace and hostility against West Indies and, briefly, New Zealand. If he lives up to his AU$1.78 million price tag with Gujarat Titans he could be a compelling option. Similarly for Jason Behrendorff, who also featured for Australia in the home summer and was named their T20I player of the year. If he has a good tournament for Mumbai Indians he could remain in the frame, especially if there are injuries. “It’s going to be tight for those last few spots, I don’t envy George’s [Bailey] position,” Matthew Wade said after the recent series against New Zealand. “I wouldn’t want to be picking the 15, there’s going to be a couple of unlucky players. But…there’s always injury around. Guys that are outside the 15 may get opportunities as well so we’re happy we’ve got so much depth.” The return of Mitchell Starc It’s been a long time between IPL outings for Mitchell Starc. Through a combination of injury and prioritising Test cricket, his last appearance came in 2015 where he was part of an RCB side with a top three of Chris

𝐈𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐝𝐬 – 𝐌𝐚𝐮𝐤𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐮𝐤𝐚 The 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup was just under a year away. And Star Sports wanted to make a big splash about it since it had the contract to showcase it. The internal creative team at Star TV, under the direction of ardent cricket fan Mustafa Rangwala, worked on a creative idea for the World Cup around June 2014. The idea and plan were to create a second Indian team to represent India at the World Cup. This second team was to be a fan squad travelling along with the Indian team, cheerleading as well as taking fans on a journey behind the scenes. (While the BCCI team would play on the field, this fan squad would play off the field, becoming cheerleaders to a billion-plus nation.) MS Dhoni was a brand ambassador for Star Sports, and he was brought in as the face for this campaign too. TV commercials had been shot with MSD, and the programme was all set to be launched until… The idea was presented to the bigwigs at Star, but due to various issues like logistics, the idea was shot down, even though a lot of effort and plans had gone into it. Multiple campaigns were presented thereafter until, in January 2015, the Star head honchos decided that, after a lot of discussions, there would be a multi-agency pitch. Lowe Lintas won the mandate and executed the “wontgiveitback campaign”. As the World Cup came closer, various executions of the “won’t give it back” campaign were being rolled out in a high-decibel media plan, and at the same time, Star India also wanted to highlight the India vs. Pakistan match which was to be India’s first game in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. It’s the thing that brings the nation together the most, regardless of age, gender, or interest in sports. They sought an initiative that would go viral throughout the country while remaining a subset of the bigger #wontgiveitback campaign. India’s victories over Pakistan in the World Cup served as inspiration for the effort. It’s easy to get lost in the shuffle of commercials during an Indo-Pak fight, so standing out was crucial. The directive was very clear: Make India vs. Pakistan match the biggest sporting event in the broadcast world.
