The buyer also purchased a mechanical inspection which happened over the weekend. We've partnered with Lemon Squad, a Wrench, Inc. company for on-demand mechanical inspections anywhere in the country. The inspection must have gone well, because this one is now SOLD. 🙌
We're removing the barriers to buying cars long distance from a private-party.
No other platform provides end-to-end technology like this. It's time for the auto industry to get a taste of "real digital retail" 😉

Were gonna sell his Harley on there in the next month or two 😎

Hyundai will sell its vehicles on Amazon, and it potentially has huge ramifications for the auto industry.
Fortunately, the Wheelhouse is here to break it all down. Daniel Govaer welcomes Brian Kramer, EVP of Cars Commerce, Matthew C. Haiken, Retailer Principal of Prestige Collection Auto Group, and new face Michael L. Wood, GM at Checkered Flag Auto Group.
They cover why we’re here, and how dealers should respond. Plus, can any company introduce something as cutting-edge as the Cybertruck? What’s up with the new FTC regulations aimed at car dealers? And is Tesla the only OEM really playing the EV game in the US?
Here’s what we cover in today’s episode:

Yup. Believe it or don't, EV will continue growing, but PHEV will be the focus in 2024 — at least in the USA. As part of my Entner Consulting Group, LLC automotive predictions for 2024 🚘, I get into this topic with prediction #5 (of 30): “2024 Will Be the Year for Hybrids and PHEVs in the USA.”
Here' the preview:
In the upcoming year, the automotive market in the USA is poised for a notable shift towards hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). This transition is driven by a confluence of factors, including regulatory challenges, infrastructural limitations, and consumer hesitancy towards fully electric vehicles. Despite government mandates pushing for a swift move to EVs, the practicalities of EV costs, charging infrastructure availability, and consumer readiness may not entirely align with these ambitious targets.
Responding to these realities, OEMs are expected to pivot their focus towards hybrids and PHEVs, particularly in sectors like pickup trucks where EV performance currently falls short. These vehicles offer a pragmatic balance, merging the reliability of traditional internal combustion engines with the benefits of electric propulsion. This approach is anticipated to mitigate range anxiety and lessen reliance on the evolving charging infrastructure. The strategic shift towards hybrids and PHEVs is not just a reaction to immediate market conditions but also an acknowledgement of consumer preferences that still lean towards the familiarity and perceived reliability of hybrid systems.
Moreover, this period may see some EV-centric companies grappling with financial difficulties or facing market saturation, prompting a reinvigorated focus on the development and production of hybrid technologies. This focus by OEMs reflects an effort to balance meeting regulatory demands while acknowledging the prevailing market realities. As a result, the growing adoption of hybrids and PHEVs could significantly decelerate the full transition to EVs in the USA. Nonetheless, this shift also presents an opportunity for progressive improvements in vehicle electrification, laying the groundwork for a more gradual but enduring move towards fully electric transportation in the foreseeable future. This adaptive strategy ensures a more sustainable and consumer-friendly path towards electrification in the automotive sector.
Ready for more? I'll be releasing the full 30 predictions in a day or two, and I'll be available to discuss them in detail at CES next week. Also, these predictions will work their way into my end of Q1-delivered "State of the SDV 2024 Report" with all the juicy and satisfying details 🍔.

#Ford Motor posted strong December sales, with hybrid sales outpacing those of BEVs. Ford said it shipped about 192,000 vehicles in December, a 7% increase from a year earlier. BEV sales amounted to about 10,000 units, up 30% year over year. Hybrid sales came in at almost 12,000 units in the last month of 2023 for a 60% jump.
Shopping electric performance: do you go Tesla Model S Plaid, wait for Highland Model 3 Performance, or just get a Porsche Taycan Turbo?

There is not a single dealership that could get away with this.
Tesla recently updated their site to include gas savings in overall price, and monthly payment whether purchased or leased.
The price advertised on their homepage build in the discount and adds some (almost) fine print.

Luxury EV OEM Lucid Motors' sales have risen in Q2 by 71%, helped no doubt by factory incentives totaling over $16,000 per vehicle. During the Covid years when inventory of EVs was scarce and customer demand was high, lavish sales incentives spending for automobiles was a relic of the not so distant past. However, in 2024 we are in a new world where higher interest rates, new Federal Tax Credit eligibility income rules and abundant EV inventory has fundamentally transformed the market. New all-electric OEMs are experiencing sales incentives challenges known all too well by the traditional auto OEMs. The more things change, the more they stay the same! #automotive#incentives#retail#ev
Dealers are getting absolutely CRUSHED on EVs:
The Ford Mustang Mach-E was selling for $10,000 ABOVE MSRP less than 2 years ago.
Today, this Mustang Mach-E is listed for $31,547 BELOW MSPR.
That's nearly 60% below the suggested selling price for a brand new car.
The worst part?
This car has been sitting on the market for 6 weeks and it still has not sold.
An EV fire sale is an understatement for most manufacturers and dealers.
Who's going to buy all of these cars?

DID YOU KNOW? The average car’s weight has increased from 1.5 metric tons in 1974 to nearly 2 metric tons in 2023 as cars grow in size and electric batteries weigh lots too.10 million EV's (including hybrids) were sold in 2022. Older parking garages often do not have the structural needs to carry this weight. The TOP 3 selling vehicles in the US - the FORD F-150, Chevy Silverado and Dodge Ram - all weigh upwards of 4,000 lbs. As does a Tesla Y.
"The #DodgeDemon170 and Tesla#ModelSPlaid are two incredibly powerful cars, each showcasing different technological approaches and strengths. The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 boasts an impressive 1,025 #horsepower and 945 lb-ft of #torque, making it one of the few gas-powered production cars with over 1,000 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 1.66 seconds and complete a quarter-mile run in 8.91 seconds. These figures are achieved on a prepped surface with E85 fuel, marking the Demon 170 as one of the fastest production gas-powered cars ever.
The 2023 Tesla Model S Plaid produces slightly less horsepower at 1,020 but demonstrates the advancements in electric vehicle technology. It features a tri-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD) setup and achieves 0-60 mph in about 1.98 seconds under favorable conditions, and completes the quarter-mile in approximately 9.25 seconds at 152.6 mph. The Plaid's electric powertrain delivers power quietly compared to the thunderous roar of the Demon 170's supercharged V8 engine.
Both vehicles represent pinnacle achievements in their respective domains: the Demon 170 as a final act of defiance from traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) muscle cars and the Model S Plaid as a beacon of electric vehicle performance and efficiency. The choice between them would largely depend on personal preferences regarding electric versus ICE, driving experience, and the intended use of the vehicle"
