During the meeting, Stephen Bottomley highlighted a significant case where a contract that was set up on WhatsApp was deemed valid because the parties involved used a 👍 emoji as a form of acceptance. This case serves as a reminder that even seemingly informal methods of communication can carry legal consequences. It emphasizes the importance of using proper and formal channels when dealing with important agreements to avoid any ambiguity or misunderstandings. Networking isn't just for getting new business. Spicy Maggie Mee Competition 🙂 After lunch today, my family and I went to Viva City Mall Kuching . As we were walking in the mall we encountered with the Spicy Maggie Eating competition ! Emmmm… . . So my sons said ; “ daddy , join the competition. !” So without hesitated I registered for it because spicy is not a big problem lah ! Sure can one lah .. iban boy mah.. not afraid of spicy .. So .. the time for the competition came , 5 participants joined the competition including myself ! We were called onto the stage ! Whoever finishes the spicy Maggie mee first in their respective cup , wins the competition . The Emcee counted “1,2 & 3 go ! “ I put the spicy maggie as much as possible into my mouth so that I can finish faster lah .. then I can win.. . . then ….I realised they were hard to swallow! They couldn’t go down into my stomach haha ! it’s too spicy ! I almost chocked…. and fortunately the organiser provided some mineral water and I had to stop eating and drinking some water first…Aiyo so embarrassed … Well .. at the end I didn’t win the challenge. someone else did , but my family and i had a good laugh over the competition , such a good and funny memory ! And in addition there are few things I learned too : 1- Life can be fun , don’t have to be too serious or too competitive . Sometimes we lose, sometimes we win , enjoy the process , learn from mistakes and pick up again and do better . 2-Take risk and challenge your comfortable zone ! You may surprise what you can grow and learn . Many people bury their talents and do not make full use of them . 4- Lastly don’t do too much things in your life in one time , it will create unhealthy stresses and make you ineffective , know your priority and values well and focus on what’s important for your physical , mental and spiritual well-being . What else do you think I can learn from my spicy maggie mee competition? Feel free to comment ya

As an industry, when we talk about coffee championships, our focus is often towards the competitors. And rightly so – these coffee professionals can end up investing months of their time in training and preparation. Every coffee competition, however, needs a group of highly skilled and experienced judges to assess performance, and ultimately determine the rankings and overall winner. Judges not only need to stay sharp, but they also have to be transparent, honest, and thorough when providing their scores and feedback. In short, we often don’t realise just how challenging it can be to judge competitions. So is there a way to minimise this pressure and ensure a fairer process for both competitors and judges? In today’s article, Bhavi Patel speaks to Trent Rollings, a certified World Coffee Championships sensory judge, and Sonja Björk Grant, a pioneering figure in creating the World Barista Championship’s judging format and procedures, to find out more. #PerfectDailyGrind #CoffeeCompetitions #WorldCoffeeChampionships
Organisers must recognise that judging competitions is challenging

Uncork you wine sales potential! Improve your bottom line, your brand image and your customer base by providing customer experience rather than products.
An Opportunity to Boost Wine Sales in Hong Kong? Last week, I had the pleasure of attending my first Hong Kong Sevens, a three-day spectacle that delighted rugby enthusiasts and even captivated those who were unfamiliar with the sport. The event was filled with entertainment both inside and outside the stands, featuring concerts, various activities organized by the event coordinators, and passionate supporters in costumes and regular attire. (The South Stand, in particular, is renowned worldwide for its lively atmosphere.) To top it off, as a French person living in Hong Kong, I was thrilled that both our teams made it to the final four, and the Hong Kong men's team emerged victorious, winning the Claymore. With such a successful outcome, expectations are already high for the next edition, which will be hosted in a brand-new stadium with a larger capacity. However, it is worth considering areas for improvement. As a wine enthusiast, I was disappointed by the limited availability of wine options. Wine, served with no detail regarding its quality and origin, was relegated to the bottom of the list of beverages offered at the stadium bars. Some may argue that rugby supporters prefer beer. However, when you take into account that among the competing teams, we have countries renowned for wine production such as Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, the United States, not to mention China and even Japan, there are ample opportunities to leverage the event and promote wine in a lighthearted manner that aligns with the lively atmosphere. Given the diverse profiles of the supporters, it is highly likely that there are wine enthusiasts among the audience. Therefore, there is little risk in trying something new. Furthermore, at a time when the wine industry is concerned about declining interest and its perceived lack of appeal to millennials or genZ, the Sevens presents an opportunity to bridge the image gap, reach a wider audience, and challenge certain norms. What are your thoughts on this? #BoostWineSales #WineExperience @HKSevens
