We empower professionals & business owners for financial success ♦ Associate Portfolio Manager ♦ Co-host, The Empowered Investor Podcast ♦
I am jumping on The Bear train. The Bear is a remarkable show. It truly gives you a look into the food industry and what goes behind creating a fine dining experience. The show also has amazing character development and is a window into the human condition. To create a mind-blowing fine dining experience you need: -A creative chef. A mastermind behind the operation. -High quality ingredients & balance between the different components. -A loyal band of line cooks (Read Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain) -An extreme high level of hospitality (Read Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara). You miss one of these and it could ruin the experience. When you get to live this you realize that the price can be irrelevant as the experience has provided value. I see parallels between a fine dining experience and a well crafted integrated plan. -You need a team of professionals who coordinate and orchestrate the operation just a like a chef. -You need high quality and simple ingredients to build a portfolio. -You need a team behind to help you execute the plan and keep the operation running. -You need a high level of hospitality. Every interaction with a client should aim to clarify, inspire confidence, and demonstrate value. #food #financialplanning #advice #clientexperience P.s a fine dining experience does not have to cost a fortune. I personally like laid back restaurants with a casual vibe. the type where you can go with jeans and a t-shirt. Here's my unsolicited list of recommendations: -Montreal Plaza. Charles-Antoine Crete is a true creative genius. -Mastard. Chef Simon Mathys has truly created an affordable fine dining experience and trust me it does not disappoint. -Beba. Ari & Pablo Schor have created one of the coziest and nicest experiences in the city.

In her Bloomberg article, "A Chef Weighs In On What The Bear Gets Wrong in Third Season", our co-founder and Chief Brand Officer Chef Katie Button speaks about how the high intensity nature of the restaurant industry does not have to translate into a nightmare culture. It is our constant focus to provide a positive experience for everyone who comes through our doors, guests and employees alike. As Katie mentions, hospitality represents the first job for so many people and it is on us to create a culture that puts people first, regardless of what side of the table they are on. https://lnkd.in/eKFAMAtt

Resort operations are designed to offer curated experiences of the highest quality. We must always remember that in a service experience, everyone involved creates equal value. Everyone contributes to preparing and maintaining the perfect environment for guests to experience the product or resort, from the cleaner to the GM. As Rory Sutherland often reminds us, the Michelin-starred chef may use the most expensive ingredients to prepare an exquisite meal, but if the restaurant smells of sewer, the person who can create the most value for that restaurant in that situation is the guy cleaning the floor and the toilets—not the glorious chef. #teamwork #everyonematters #valuecreation #resortoperations

As a food lover, I often dreamt of the life of a food critic, eating my way through the world and discovering new flavors. However, this article sheds light on the reality of a Michelin inspector's life, which is anything but glamorous. It's often a lonely and awkward journey as they strive to maintain anonymity and objectivity while evaluating restaurants. Check out the experiences and stories of Michelin inspectors in this eye-opening article. #foodcritic #MichelinGuide #restaurantreviews

A $2 hotdog is more valuable than an expensive bottle of champagne. That is unreasonable hospitality. Food, service & design are all ingredients in the recipe of human connection. Restaurants are in the business of serving up memories, not just food. Listening to guests’ desires and executing on them, rather than serving up standardised items/gifts can create these memories. Will Guidara gives a fascinating insight into the top end of FOH in his book - Unreasonable Hospitality. Outlining how he and Danny Myers built Eleven Madison Park into the best restaurant in the world. Read a fascinating book recently? Let me know in the comments ⬇️ #hospitality #service #restaurants
