Fin Capital is a venture capital firm that seeks to invest in seed-stage, early-stage, growth-stage, and later-stage companies and take board or observer seats in the companies. The firm seeks to invest in the business-to-business fintech sector with a focus on enterprise SaaS. Fin Capital is a full lifecycle global asset manager on a mission to drive impact on two dimensions: a) B2B FinTech innovators on their customers/industry and b) Firm performance on the lives of LPs. They are passionate about rolling up our sleeves and partnering with repeat entrepreneurs that have deep financial services experience, audacious goals, differentiated products, and a global platform mindset. They call themselves "FinTech Nerds with Capital" as they are operators at their core with deep corporate and start-up leadership experience - they know intimately what it’s like to walk in entrepreneurial shoes. Through their "OS" Lighthouse and hands-on operating playbook, they add meaningful value beyond capital throughout the partnership lifecycle. https://fin.capital/ #venturecapital #firm #enterprenuers

An interesting way to think about #venturestudios: venture capital exposure and upside, with private equity management and control. ⏱️ Private equity rose to prominence through LBOs, which created a management and control that drove economic improvement and returns. 🎯 Studios aka company creators have similar structure -- relatively large investment, controlling interest -- but focused on new companies not existing. 📈 Traditional VC does not seek control but rather leans into the opposite: spray and pray and riding the rollercoaster of wins and losses. Why? Some believe the volatility is necessary to create upside. Others believe in founders to be better managers. But in the last 10 years or so, the data is painting a clear picture that the PE model of investing applied to VC (aka studios) is starting to perform very well. #venturebuilding

Founder of Angel Squad | I teach professionals how to invest in startups with help from seasoned VC investors | Investor & Advisor
Being an operator can give you a great lens through which you approach angel investing. I’ve come across very talented early-stage operators who have built impressive companies and then went on to start angel investing. Operators have an intimate understanding of the obstacles other founders face and the nuances of possible solutions. They have practical experience using different business models and GTM approaches. On the other hand, being an angel investor can make you a better operator. Learning how to run your due diligence process on a company can poke holes in the things you can improve on as an operator yourself. Being on both sides of the cap table can meaningfully improve your skills on either side. I’ve seen these jobs be complementary to each other. And I think more investors and operators should try their hand at the other side of the cap table.
