Today, Expedia Group released Unpacked ’24 – a look at the trends driving travel as we move toward a new year. From destination dupes and dry tripping to vibe checks and set-jetting – it’s exciting to see what’s propelling people to book their next trip. I particularly love seeing our Gen Gen AI trend on the list. We're still in the early days of finding opportunities for AI to improve business, and I’m proud of how we’ve already applied it in our traveler and partner products, as well as in our internal ways of working. As the current generation comes of age using this technology to find inspiration, plan and book their trips with unprecedented ease, our continued investment in technology will be increasingly important. You can discover more about all the 2024 trends here: https://lnkd.in/edzf6tFn #UnpackTravelTrends

🌍✈️ Unpacking 2024 #ravel #Trends: An Expedia Group Insight 🌟 Are you curious about the hottest travel trends for 2024? The latest "Unpack '24" report from Expedia Group unveils a world of exciting possibilities: 🌟 Fun Facts from Expedia Group's "Unpack '24" Report 🌟 1. #Setjetting: Over 50% of travelers now take their travel cues from TV shows and movies, more than Instagram, TikTok, and podcasts combined! So, get ready to visit destinations that have graced your favorite screens. 2. Dupes: Travelers are embracing "dupes" – affordable alternatives to popular hotspots. These places are not just easier on the wallet but often less crowded and equally delightful. For example, instead of packed Santorini how about Paros? Picture perfect but much less crowded. Or instead of bustling Geneva, consider visiting Quebec City for a similar European charm without the crowds. 3. Tour Tourism: The "Swiftie effect" and world domination by music stars like Beyoncé are taking live music tourism to new heights. Concerts are now a solid reason to travel, and it's not just about the music, but the unique experiences that come with it. 4. Dry Tripping: More than 40% of travelers are keen to book detox trips with alcohol-free options like mocktails. 5. Vibes Matter: The "vibe" of a hotel is big in 2024, with reviews mentioning it skyrocketing by 1,090%. More than 90% of travelers say it's an important factor when choosing where to stay. (my 10 years old daughter always asks me about the vibe of a place) 6. Trending Hotels: Travelers are loving traditional Japanese inns (ryokans) and Moroccan riads, with searches for these charming accommodations seeing a remarkable increase. 7. Go-ccasions: Beyond typical celebrations, travelers are finding more reasons to hit the road, from "puppymoons" to "first-date-iversaries." Work-related milestones are also becoming travel catalysts. 8. Outdoor Amenities: Outdoor features like hot tubs, fire pits, and sports facilities are hot commodities for holiday homes. 9. Trending Vrbo Vacation Homes: Converted mills, barns, and farms are the places to be in 2024. Expect fresh produce, cute animals, and cozy retreats in these countryside properties. 10. Gen Gen AI: Generative AI is becoming a traveler's best friend. It's not just about chatbots; it's now integrated into travel planning, from finding hotels to comparing flights and gaining inspiration for your next adventure.
