With a substantial prize fund of approximately $380,000, the 2024 edition of the #awards recognises the pivotal role of translators and their publishers in bridging #cultural gaps. I strongly encourage translators and publishers from around the world to submit their entries via the #Sharjah International Book Fair website by 31 August. It’s a great honour to support the second Future Pioneers Award (FPA), led by BEEAH Group , to celebrate groundbreaking ideas and projects that will shape the future of #sustainability. Starting construction on the largest #solar plant in #Sharjah is a big milestone for Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) and for our emirate, which is committed to #decarbonization and achieving net-zero by 2032. This 60 MWp project, at the #Sajaa Gas Complex, will generate enough clean #energy to offset 66,000 tons of #CO2 emissions annually — like taking more than 14,600 cars off the road per year. In partnership with Emerge a joint Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) -EDF Group venture, SNOC is building a plant that will markedly reduce our reliance on #hydrocarbons and provide cost-effective clean energy for the whole emirate. With this project, which aligns with the #UAE's ambitious Net-Zero 2050 strategy, Sharjah is proud to set a regional example of a committed clean energy transition. https://lnkd.in/dD9Za2xh

So grateful to the Sharjah Archaeology Authority, the Miho Museum in Japan and all who brought the ‘Mleiha: An Arabian Kingdom on the Silk Road’ exhibition to life. It’s a spectacular journey through time and Mleiha's incredible story.

Inaugurating a new exhibition called ‘Mleiha: An Arabian Kingdom on the Silk Road’ at the prestigious Miho Museum in #Japan, was a proud moment for #Sharjah and for me personally. Led by the Sharjah Archaeology Authority (SAA) under the patronage of HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, it is a testament to Sharjah's commitment to #cultural preservation and #global collaboration. Celebrating #Mleiha's rich #history and its pivotal role in the Silk Road trade routes, it opens a window on our #Arab identity and sheds light on our ancient civilization’s wider impact on the world. I was honoured to be joined by distinguished figures from the #UAE and Japan, and I’d like to extend my deep gratitude to the SAA team, the Miho Museum, and all who brought this magnificent exhibition to life. Special thank you to H.E. Eisa Yousif, Director General of the SAA; Prof Isao Kumakura, Director of the Miho Museum; Yukiko Koyama, Head of the Miho Museum Office; H.E. The Mleiha archaeological area, designated a national park earlier this year, is one of our oldest #historical and #anthropological #heritage sites, and is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site nominee list. It’s an incredible place, which exudes ancient mystique and intrigue — something we have sought to celebrate, protect, and develop for the benefit of future generations. Mleiha Archaeological Centre promotes the preservation of our natural #history and #archaeology by allowing the public to encounter its beauty and significance through #sustainable #ecotourism practices. To see Mleiha win the Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Award for a seventh consecutive year is fantastic, though its enduring popularity with visitors is already a well-established fact. This recognition is a credit to everyone with a hand in Mleiha’s success, not least of which are the expert team on the ground, who bring its ancient secrets alive for modern visitors.
