Manager at a Franchise Dealership?? You should accept a few things Good , Bad and Ugly...... 1. The Good--If you've been in the car business in the same community for 5 years or more...you're an influencer. (It's your biggest asset) 2. The Bad-- You've probably done nothing to take advantage of the influence you've built 3. The UGLY--Your dealership would cut you loose in a second if it added the their bottom line. They have likely already considered it. You create your own security. No one is coming to save you. Spot on Bob. The automotive industry should all read a great book entitled “Built to Last” Collins and Porras. It proves mathematically how the top 18 corporations who lasted the test of time, most who started during the worst of times, managed to offer shareholder dividend returns of 6:1 over the number 2 comparatives and 10:1 over all the rest within their respective industries. They demonstrated 7 traits shared by the “visionary” companies. At time of publishing the book the top corporations were obviously highlighted. A few of them “changed lanes” and broke from their 7 trait traditions and now we can all see what negative impacts are now being felt by some of those companies. Do the math! Branding, training, sticking to core values, innovation, etc are the keys to growth and guaranteed success under difficult times.PROFIT IS IMPORTANT BUT THESE COMPANIES ALSO DEMONSTRATED THE WILL TO ALSO BETTER SOCIETY AND THE WORLD AROUND THEM. Wow! Revolutionary thoughts, eh?
Your absolutely right !!! Bob

2moI truly wish this had been a focus earlier in my career. Reflecting on the years, I realize the immense value in building and nurturing those connections. There's no telling how many valuable contacts I could have in my rolodex today. As I age and mature, I remember the old timers always saying, "You can attract more flies with sugar than 💩." I wish I had heeded that advice sooner. Great post!
