⚡Soul, electrified - The F-118 is coming! We are pleased to announce our Rollout this year and are soon be able to present you our latest racing car. After 17 years, 15 racing cars with pure combustion engines and many successes and beautiful moments, it is now time for us to take the next step. Our future and with it our next racing car - the F-118 - will be electric! But one thing will never change and every vehicle from High Speed Karlsruhe will have it. There is no entry for this in the Formula Student rules and regulations. We don't have a CAD model of it. We don't know much it weighs and can't measure it on the race track. If you ask 18 of our members, you will get 18 different answers. But there is no debate about its existence. After just one lap of Endurance you realize it's the most valuable part of the car. An indispensable component that you learn to appreciate and love more with every second and that you will never miss in any High Speed Karlsruhe racing car: The soul. Our Rollout will take place on June 13th, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. The car presentation will take place in the auditorium of Building A from 7:00 p.m. The presentation will also be broadcast on YouTube. The impasse eating away at Formula E's future https://lnkd.in/eusZBhMn The phrase ‘NRE costs’ will mean little to most people. But the topic has become the Formula E paddock’s hottest debate and has major implications for the championship’s next-generation car. NRE - or ‘non-recurring engineering’ - costs is a broad term defining a one-off cost that results from developing, designing and implementing a manufacturing process for a new product. It’s already known that the Gen4 Formula E design due to debut in 2026 will be an ambitious 600kW racing car involving two new suppliers: Podium Advanced Technologies for the battery and Bridgestone for the spec tyres. But the thorny question of who covers its NRE costs has resulted in a degree of conflict between the manufacturers, the FIA, Formula E Operations - with the FIA/FE wanting greater input from those competing. There's also a knock-on factor for the independent teams to consider. The Race understands that the overall NRE costs will be in the region of €9million in total. Ultimately, the conjecture centres around the simple theory of which financial model the FIA and Formula E choose for Gen4. At present, teams face a big financial commitment when it comes to NRE cost contributions, which include the intellectual property of the cars. The question of which way Formula E goes about sharing the cost of Gen4 is very much tied to the number of manufacturers within the series and, with manufacturers not expected to commit to Gen4 until early this summer, at present there is obviously an element of stasis in the decision making. The more manufacturers there are in Formula E, the lesser the NRE cost to each one will be. That is clear. But if, as forecast by some, Formula E only has four confirmed 2026 manufacturers by this summer, then all of a sudden the outlay on Gen4 preparation is less comfortable (...).

Reflecting on the growth of Formula E, Eugenio Franzetti, director of DS Performance, emphasizes the environmental consciousness of the circuit, with a single tire type and minimal #CO2 emissions signaling a commitment to economic and environmental sustainability. Franzetti draws inspiration from #Ferrari while steering Formula E towards the future, making it the "third largest motor racing championship in the world in terms of following and fans" in just a decade. The ambition for DS Penske team? To surpass last season's fifth-place finish, setting the stage for a future where DS will launch only new 100% electric models from 2024. Getting young engineers excited about Knorr-Bremse - an important goal of our promotion of young talents! 💪 As an official partner of the "Formula Student Germany" design competition, Knorr-Bremse is now supporting six teams in their quest for pole position. Both financially and with technical know-how. Every year, teams from all over the world compete with their racing cars in the "Formula Student" competition. 🥇 The proud winners of this year's "Formula Student Germany": the Knorr-Bremse-sponsored racing team Ecurie Aix - Formula Student Team RWTH Aachen e.V. 🎉 Yesterday, the winning team visited the Knorr-Bremse site in Munich. 📍 The students were very enthusiastic when they were given a tour of the prototype construction and our test rigs, and then talked to Knorr-Bremse employees - some of whom had themselves studied at RWTH Aachen University. 👉 In the "Formula Student" competition, students design and build formula racing cars which then qualify for various races and compete against national and international teams. However, it is not the team with the fastest car that wins, but the one with the best overall package of technical design, racing performance, financial planning and sales arguments. 💡 #FormulaStudentGermany #TeamKnorrBremse 

Oliver Rowland and Dorian Boisdron: Past, Present, and Future at Nissan Formula E Team Oliver Rowland and Dorian Boisdron are both integral names in the history of the Nissan Formula E Team. They have been a part of some of its most successful campaigns, including season 6, when the outfit ended the year as vice-champion. Dorian has held the position of team director since 2022, while Oliver makes a return to the squad as an experienced driver to partner with promising youngster Sacha Fenestraz, following two years away. Nissan made its all-electric racing debut in Season 5 (2018/19) of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, becoming the first and only Japanese manufacturer to enter the series. In Season 7 (2020/21), Nissan announced its long-term involvement in Formula E and its commitment to the Gen3 era, which will run from season 9 (2022/23) through to the end of Season 12 (2025/26) of the all electric racing series. The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship became the first global sport to be certified with a net zero carbon footprint from inception back in 2020, having invested in certified climate-protecting projects in all race markets to offset emissions from every season of electric racing. All cars in the championship are powered by electricity, with the series acting as a competitive platform to test and develop the latest in electric technology. The world's greatest manufacturers race against each other on street circuits and Formula E promotes the adoption of sustainable mobility in city centers in a bid to combat air pollution and lessen the effects of climate change. Why isn't Formula Electric more popular than Formula 1? Formula Electric features equal cars and an array of talented drivers and is made to be environmentally sustainable. Furthermore, the series races take part in many more street circuits, which should drive in-person attendance numbers. To name a few, the series races in London and Portland, and even announced a new race in Tokyo. Despite everything that should be going for this series, it never gains the same amount of traction that Formula 1 does. Why is that? One of the things that need to be added is the component of the team, machine, and driver coming together to compete. Another reason it may not be popular is that it lacks the history that Formula 1 has. Why do you think the series is less popular than Formula 1? But from not-so-subtle '60s muscle-car boasts (SS, GT, GTO) to the current crop of modern powertrain signifiers (ICE, BEV, PHEV), few acronyms in the performance auto-sphere carry the weight of AMG. More than just a flashy badge to sell pricey versions of regular cars, AMG represents a purity of mission born deep within the Mercedes-Benz empire. How AMG evolved from the pet project of two intrepid M-B engineers to a global icon is a story that almost didn't happen. The History Of AMG: Born Of Passion, Proven On The Racetrack Like most performance dynasties, AMG began with a few individuals whose passion, desire, and devotion far outstripped their means. Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher were engineers focused on developing the racing engine for the Mercedes-Benz 300 SE in the early 1960s. Unfortunately for them, the corporate overlords at Daimler-Benz decided to cease motorsports involvement just as the engineers were hitting their horsepower stride. Disappointed but undeterred, the pair continued work on the engine on the sly at Aufrecht's house in Großaspach, located in Germany's Baden-Wurttemberg region. (You see the key letters lining up, right?) To further its development and prove their skills in a competitive arena, the pair planted the engine in the bay of an MB 300 SE piloted in the German Touring Car Championship by fellow Daimler employee Manfred Schiek. True to fairytale form, Schiek goes on to win—10 times. AMG Officially Founded In 1967 The pair's expertise with Mercedes-Benz performance now firmly cemented, Aufrecht realized the time to strike was now or never. He leaves Benz in 1966, and in 1967 he and Melcher—the dynamism duo—found a company called Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach engineering firm, focusing on designing, testing, and developing racing engines. The AMG acronym naturally followed; its phonetic ring makes it both authoritative-sounding and easy to memorize. What Is The Difference Between AMG And Mercedes? In the simplest terms, AMG is the Mercedes Performance division. In practice, however, it's much more involved than that. While Mercedes-Benz models are typically designed to deliver luxury with varying levels of performance, AMG focuses on the performance element and is devoted to designing, engineering, and creating high-performance Mercedes-Benz models. Diving slightly deeper, AMG models are generally more cosmetically extroverted, often featuring unique badging, wheels, and AMG-specific aerodynamic elements including spoilers, diffusers, air dams, and intakes. Some AMG vehicles feature unique fascia and grille components to achieve a unique identity and overall sportier appearance. AMG also offers various body kits so owners can customize their vehicle to taste and add another level of differentiation both after taking delivery and from the factory
