Make America Great Again? America’s killer feature is how it pairs capital and talent to innovate. I'm lucky—I’ve worked with incredibly talented people from places all over the world like - Germany - UK - Australia - South Korea - South Africa - Canada - Spain - Italy The list goes on and on. But the sheer volume of capital and talent here in the US dwarfs all other countries (even after adjusting for population differences). Almost to the point where some can argue that the capital bets are reckless or unintelligible. But take a look at the results. The US produces more technological advancements than any other place. The more time I spend in other parts of the world, the more I grow to appreciate this uniquely American marvel.

On April 21st, we celebrated World Creativity and Innovation Day, a time to pause and appreciate the incredible impact of creativity and innovation in our lives. This special day emerged from the efforts of Marci Segal back in 2001, who wanted to spread the message of embracing our creative potential for positive change. Since then, it's blossomed into a global celebration of human ingenuity in all its forms. What makes this day so meaningful is its recognition of how creativity and innovation shape our world, from the smallest everyday innovations to the groundbreaking discoveries. It's a reminder that we're all capable of contributing to progress, whether through a new invention, a fresh perspective on a problem, or a creative solution to a challenge. By marking World Creativity and Innovation Day, we're encouraged to create environments that nurture creativity and inspire innovative thinking. It's about empowering individuals to share their ideas and talents, knowing that each contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference. So, as we celebrate this day, let's embrace our creative spark and explore the endless possibilities it holds. Together, we can build a brighter, more innovative future for ourselves and generations to come. May we be able to recognise our very own efforts in trying to make a better world, the small things matter. #WorldCreativityandInnovationDay #Celebrate #growth #creativity #MarciSegal

The AAPI community encompasses a diverse tapestry of cultures, each with its unique heritage and history. #society Knowledge is unlike a finite, dimishing natural resource. If you think it, you own it. It is yours. Did you think it? It does not matter who you are. When you share, it grows when others add to it in a conversation. Knowledge is not a zero-sum game. Culture, like anything else, matters and does not matter. As long as man is a social and political animal there will be culture (One World. Culture, Trade, and International Development, https://lnkd.in/gj-uuhH8).
Deeply pleasurable conversation with Elle Griffin of The Elysian about the future of "global culture". Very nuanced with insights from the great Tyler Cowen as well.
Will we still have culture in the future?

I attended an interesting seminar about generational gap in Japan at the #CCIFJ, some of the challenges and opportunities that presents. I came away with increased curiosity and many interrogations; do the commonly accepted definitions of the different generations (gen x, millenials, etc) cleanly transpose to Japan? Society constantly evolves and no matter what era, there will always be a gap between generations. Can this gap be bridged just with process and policies, or is it a deeper change in mindset, company values and culture that is needed? On many DEI aspects Japan is a laggard. Change is coming no matter, but can organizations change fast enough? #changemanagement #DEI #prosci #ataway

Even in a symbolic sense, with the limitations imposed by the founding treaties, there is great value in articulating simple yet profound words: ‘Culture is what gives meaning to life. Culture broadens the boundaries of reality through our dreams. Culture transforms the ordinary into the essential and the fleeting into the eternal. Culture empowers the small to become giant, and the perishable to attain infinity. Culture represents #rights, culture embodies #freedom. Culture symbolizes progress, and, above all, democracy.’ These words, borrowed from the European Union Minister of Culture’s declaration, remind us that culture is not merely a concept but a force that shapes our lives, our freedoms, and our future. Very much welcomed and timely. Would be great if the cultural creativity would be rightfully used to boost the values that unite us. 🌍🎨 #CultureMatters #EU #Democracy #Inspiration #valuesuniting
