We were honored to host a special Round Table Talk on Wednesday, May 1, in celebration of Military Appreciation Month at BMW Group U.S in partnership with our Veterans Network ERG. We were privileged to have award-winning TV producer, director, artist, and professor, Steve Alpert, join us. Steve's commitment to the military and veteran community shines through his volunteerism, charitable contributions, and incredible artwork honoring those who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. During the event, Steve presented two military-inspired art pieces to our Ohio and Woodcliff Lake offices. He also shared his philanthropic journey within the veteran community, along with the inspiration behind his remarkable creations. Thank you, Steve, for your impactful contributions and for uplifting our military community through your art and advocacy. Together, lets continue to honor and support our military and veteran service members. #BMWGroup #MilitaryAppreciationMonth #VeteransERG #DEI #Belonging

"Freedom is never free." At Dura-Trac Flooring, we believe in honoring and supporting those who have dedicated their lives to defend the principles we hold dear. General George S. Patton once said, "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived." These words encapsulate the spirit of resilience, courage, and selflessness exhibited by our military veterans. At Dura-Trac Flooring, we are proud to contribute to organizations that make a tangible difference in the lives of veterans. Among those we actively support are the UDT (Underwater Demolition Teams) SEAL Association, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity Veterans Build. These organizations embody our commitment to providing assistance, education, and housing to those who have served. Many of you already positively support veterans in valuable ways but if you’ve been looking for additional avenues, we invite you to join us by supporting these causes, you are directly contributing to the well-being of our veterans and their families. Every donation, be it time, product, or monetary plays a crucial role in building a brighter future for those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. If you wish to contribute, please consider donating to these organizations through the following links: UDT SEAL Association: https://lnkd.in/egWkKhwj Special Operations Warrior Foundation: https://lnkd.in/ePY_knjC Habitat for Humanity Veterans Build: https://lnkd.in/eFm6iSm5 #militaryveterans #veteransupport #godblessamerica

I am going to participate in this years Bataan Memorial Death March (virtual) a 26.2 mile ruck/hike in honor of the Bataan Death March in World Wa 2. I did this 12 years ago in person and want to give it another go this year. I am also using this year to raise money for Team Red, White & Blue please consider donating. (Link Below) Team Red White and Blue Mission: In the military, service members push the limits of their well-being to support the mission. That selfless service posture has always been necessary because service members of every era knew they may be called to war. As they move into civilian life, many veterans carry that mission-first mindset with them, neglecting their health in the process. We believe that veterans are America’s most resilient citizens — and it’s time for more veterans to prioritize their well-being first. Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) exists to guide them through that journey with real-life and virtual opportunities focused on building a healthier lifestyle because a strong focus on mental and physical health is critical to ensuring veterans’ best days are ahead. https://lnkd.in/e-P2_BmR #TeamRWB #Army #Bataan #AUSA #MPRA

I stumbled across a Givers, Doers, & Thinkers podcast episode featuring Marcus Ruzek and a couple of the things he said regarding the military --> civilian transition really stuck out. To paraphrase: 1) Approximately 200,000 people transition out of the military every year and each one of them- regardless of their age, rank, and experience- go through nearly the exact same Transition Assistance Program. 2) The mililtary does an incredible job of taking someone off the street and training them to be a warrior. But, as Ruzek said, "nobody trained us to take the uniform off and move on." Our nation has had a standing military for more than 230 years and, even now on the heels of our longest war, government heads have yet to effectively and efficiently identify and/or support the needs of our service members and their families. And so we'll do it. The nonprofits and foundations; the givers, doers, and thinkers. It's an honor and an imperative. #GiversDoersThinkers #PhilanthropyDaily #United4MilitaryFamilies #Nonprofit

Happy Memorial Day: Today we remember and honor those who served in our military and those who were killed or are missing in action. Here are some ways you can honor those who serve or have served in the military: Say thank you A simple, heartfelt, and sincere thank you can show your appreciation for what veterans have faced and given up. You can also thank them for their sacrifices, valor, courage, strength, and dedication. Fly the flag Flying the flag outside your workplace can show appreciation for veterans, especially if they are employees or contractors. Many veterans see the flag as a symbol of their honorable service. Volunteer You can volunteer at an organization or event that supports wounded warriors, or find out about volunteer opportunities at a Veterans Affairs hospital. Volunteering can also be a good way to build rapport with colleagues. Donate Donating to veteran organizations can help them provide shelter, services, and more for veterans in need. Attend a veterans event You can attend a ceremony, parade, or other special event to honor veterans. Visit a war memorial or veterans' cemetery You can say a silent thank you or moment of silence at a war memorial, or visit a veterans' cemetery in your area. Create a care package You can put together a personalized care package for a veteran you know, or mail one to someone in need. Some ideas for what to include are candies, an American flag, socks with rubber grips, and toiletries. Write a veteran's story You can write down the story of a veteran you know, or write it for your school or local paper.
