However, it wasn't until I started grinding my coffee beans at home that I truly discovered what a difference freshly ground coffee can make. Not only is the aroma more intense, but the flavor is richer and more complex. In this article, I'll be sharing with you the benefits of using freshly ground coffee beans, as well as the science behind why they taste so much better. I'll also guide you through choosing the right grinder for your needs and provide a step-by-step guide on how to grind your own beans at home. Whether it's a morning pick-me-up, a social drink with friends, or a comforting cup in the afternoon, coffee has become an integral part of many people's daily routines. International Coffee Day is celebrated annually on October 1st to recognize and appreciate the efforts of coffee growers, traders, and baristas, as well as to promote the awareness and sustainable growth of the coffee industry. Coffee is not only known for its rich and diverse flavors but also for its stimulating effects due to the presence of caffeine. It can help increase alertness, improve focus, and provide a temporary boost of energy. However, it's important to consume coffee in moderation and be mindful of your caffeine intake. So, on this International Coffee Day, take some time to savor your favorite cup of coffee, explore new flavors or brewing methods, and perhaps even learn more about the journey of coffee from farm to cup. Helping people on their path to coffee nirvana | Author | Owner of Alfie's Coffee Company | Husband and family man.
If you’re looking to make great coffee, one of the most important things to focus on is extraction. This just means getting the right balance of flavours out of your coffee So it doesn’t end up too bitter, Too sour Too weak Or anything else unpleasant (A bit like Goldilocks and the 3 bears! 🐻) When you do it right though, You can really bring out all the unique flavours and qualities of your beans And end up with a cup that tastes amazing. There are a lot of factors that go into extraction but two of the biggest are; Grind size And contact time. Basically the finer you grind your coffee and the longer you let it steep, the more flavour you’ll get out of it. Of course, leave it brew too long and you’ll have ‘over-extracted’ the coffee and it will be bitter. The art is finding the right balance for your particular brewing method And experimenting with different ratios, grind sizes and times to create consistency. If you’re struggling with consistency in your brews, drop me a DM and I’ll help you out. ✌🏻

The human romance with the coffee plant started, not because of the flavor of the fruit, but because of the stimulating effects. It’s ironic because caffeine is the coffee plant’s defense mechanism against pests. When you depulp the coffee seeds, they are still extremely dense. If you try to grind green coffee beans, your grinder is going to have serious issues. However, when you roast coffee, the beans become brittle. Suddenly, they become easy to grind and brew. Coffee roasting is a major contributing factor to the taste. However, the first coffee roasters in history probably just saw it as a necessity to brew a stimulating caffeine drink. When you get a delicious cup of specialty coffee, the flavor has a lot to do with the agricultural conditions of the plant. However, in all honesty, the taste of the beverage and the coffee fruit will not have that much in common. You can compare it to a steak and piece of raw beef. The flavors will be quite different.

Did ya know? Coffee comes from a fruit 🍓 🍌🫐 🍒 Coffee beans are not actually beans. They are actually the pits from a cherry-like berry that grows on a bush. The “bean” is the seed or pit, which is found at the center of the fruit and is roasted to make the coffee we love. So next time your doc says to eat more fruit, tell them you have it covered 😜 ☕ #coffeecrazy #servetheherd #coffeeecommerce #recurringrevenue

But hey, let's spill the beans on single source coffee! ☕️ Single source means your coffee comes from one place, one farm, one batch of beautiful beans. It's like getting a personal invite from the farm to your cup! 🌱 Why's that cool? You get a unique taste, and you're supporting the farmers directly. Plus, when it's roasted and shipped the same day - that's freshness you can taste! Love your morning cup? Share your thoughts or tag a friend who's a coffee fanatic! Move Over, Barista! Curiosity is apparently a reason enough for some people to attend a last-minute #Rolodex meetup and run collective experiment in a small but cozy #coffeeshop tucked away in the back roads of BSD. What to be curious about? 1| Exotic #coffee beans - samples from a specialty coffee roaster 2| Plant-based (cashew) #milk - samples from a local producer What the experiment is all about? Cashew milk + coffee/chocolate, yay or nay? Mind you, we are talking about hardcore coffee (and chocolate!) enthusiasts who are health conscious and seeking for ways to improve their #lifestyle. But let’s be honest, free goodies never fail to get people together. Hence the #barista takeover! “Stay curious,” Jane Fonda once said. "It is much more important to stay interested than to be interesting." Yes! And being curious with #friends is much better than being curious alone. So, thank you Bernardo H., Arif Suryono, Raden Rachmadi Gustrian, Iman Subekti, Triana Dewi, Mia Rubianti, and Krisma S. for sharing your thoughts after tasting a few rounds of hot/ice coffee, cappuccino, latte, and chocolate, all with #cashewmilk. Hope you all had no trouble sleeping afterwards! Conclusion? It’s a yay, with some “nutty” notes :-) #WhyIbu? #LifeOutsideWork PS: anybody ever tried plant-based milk with your coffee/chocolate?
