BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is grateful to our employees for making a tangible impact in our community. Last month, 30 of our dedicated employees volunteered at the Harvest Hope Food Bank warehouse, packing a total of 840 boxes of food for Harvest Hope’s summer feeding program for kids. But our efforts didn’t stop there. We had 80 employee volunteers at our BlueCross building, packing 680 meal kits for the summer feeding program. These 5-day meal kits contain nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack items, and to feed 900 children every week this summer. We are proud to be a part of this initiative and grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact. DYK: Harvest Hope Food Bank provides more than 20 million meals each year. They rescue, pack, transport, and deliver nutritious food to soup kitchens, shelters, food pantries and schools in twenty counties across #SouthCarolina. #FightHunger

South Carolina Junior Achievement Volunteer Receives Top National Honor Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina (JA) announced that Tim Vaughn has been chosen from among more than one hundred thousand U.S. volunteers as one of eleven recipients of the organization’s most prestigious national award for volunteerism, the Gold Leadership Award. Junior Achievement’s Gold Leadership Award honors volunteer excellence, presented in recognition of leadership in supporting and expanding JA’s student impact, resources, operational excellence and sustainability. The Gold Leadership Awards honor the recipients’ JA volunteer service during the 2022-23 school year. “Our local business community’s support of JA is critical to achieving our mission, to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy,” said Casey Pash president of Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina. “Tim Vaughn, President and Chief Operating Officer at BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is a remarkable example of that spirit of dedication and service to others. In a very real way, he helps South Carolina JA students get the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.” Over the past nine years, Tim has helped Junior Achievement by serving as a volunteer in the classroom, board member, board chairman, and an investor. His contributions have helped lead to a statewide consolidation of Junior Achievement offices, an increase in over 16,000 students in the last 3 years and tripling the net assets of the organization. Tim believes in the boundless possibilities of the work of Junior Achievement here in the Palmetto State. Junior Achievement’s entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness programs are delivered nationwide—typically in classrooms during the school day, by volunteer role models from the local business community.
